Picture fooled
Book cover does not look like the picture. Also was expecting a bigger book, size is relatively small. First page had four stains, which looked like discount coupon was removed from it. Exterior had minor damages, probably due packing. Story is fascinating, but felt like handing a cheap pocketbook as present

The madness and genius of the Opera House
This book tells the rollercoaster tale of the design and lengthy construction of one of the world's most beautiful buildings. Drama, arguments, hissy fits, and falling outs are all here. But most of all it illuminates the genius of the engineer Ove Arup, and the technological developments that he pioneered in order to overcome seemingly impossible structural challenges, to complete this icon of architecture.

The Complexities of Creativity
A tremendiious story about the complexities of creativity. As a retired architect, I bought the book because I realized that I was a little fuzzy about the details of the competition/design/construction. I knew the story of Saarinens pivitial role in the architect selection process, and I knew that Utzohn (the architect) resigned under pressure and did not finish the project. What I did not know, and the book makes clear, is that Utqon did not know how to finish the project, and the completed project does not meet the owners stated requirements. It is nevertheless a masterpiece that has served Sidney well and inspired millions. Strange stuff!
