Excellent, Well-Written Novel
Because of the subject matter, it's difficult to say that this is a good book; however, it's very well written & informative. I first read "Finding Me" by Michelle Knight which was an incredible story of strength, endurance, & finally triumph! This book gave some clarity & detail to many of the events that Michelle described as well as background on the Monster(I won't dignity him with a name) that inflicted such pain & horror. I would recommend both books to get a complete picture of what happened for more than a decade. I'm so thankful that these ladies were found; and continue to pray for them as they return & adjust to their lives.

Tragic True Story
This book was very detailed and the organization of the timeline was pretty good. While reading at first, I did not agree with the other reviews that stated the repetition in the book as I didn't really mind it because the author was reminding us who everyone was and where they were, what they were doing, but towards the end of the book I did get a little detached because the author did start repeating some things that weren't necessary, like how each girl was taken, he must've said it like 4 or 5 times. During reading, it was not terrible hearing it over and over but toward the end once they were rescued and how they are trying to get back to "normal" it just wasn't necessary anymore. Other than that, it was a fabulous book under the circumstances of course and I truly felt I was in the room with these women as they dealt with the abuse. The only part I wish was different in this book was that we had heard a lot from Michelle Knight but not from Amanda or Gina.

blew me away
This book goes down the entire time line of Ariel’s life and the details of his victims including the mother of his children and his children. His daughter’s role and connections to his victims. Emily’s story made me cry almost as much as Michelle’s. This case is so disturbing there were times I felt gross for reading it.

What a monster
I had heard about the Cleveland abductions and how the girls finally escaped, but I did not know the detail that is in this book. John Glatt researches his books thoroughly and his writing style is excellent.

Emotional and Disturbing Read
Author provides as much detail in the horrors these children faced as can be expected. Great read for a rainy afternoon

Just good.
I appreciate another book to read on this as it is a mesmerizing story. However, the ladies' books are much better. There goes one star. Next, there are inconsistencies. There goes another star. Here are a few... Gina writes in her book that she is raped by Castro a few weeks after the abduction. Presumably because he thought he may be finally sniffed out early on. In this book it is claimed that she is raped that first night. Also, it is claimed that Aerial picked the name Jocelyn for the child. But Amanda claims in her book that she ultimately chose the name. I found a few more and thought, geez, which ones and how many others did I miss? The ladies' books are more poetic, novel like. This one is more like a journalist who created a time line for us with some interesting filler. And I have to add this.... What a huge, unbelievable mistake that the FBI didn't bother to investigate the father of the best friend who saw her last! And they only even investigate said girl's step dad because of an anonymous tip (likely, they admit, from Castro).

Well written account that I highly recommend.
This was a comprehensive, very well written account of Amanda Berry's, Gina DeJesus' and Michelle Knight's time and experiences under the control of Ariel Castro, Sr.'s sick and demented abductions and imprisonment. What was done to these girls by Ariel was very violent and abhorrent. I actually had to take a few breaks from the book for several hours while reading. It's disturbing but so accurate. I remember the televised coverage of the rescue and trial. The three girls have become true survivors and are so admirable for handling themselves so well after their rescue and after the trial. This book is so well done that I have no desire to read any other book about this event, with the exception of the individual books the girls, or rather, the women have had written about themselves.
