Took a chance on this when it was on sale. I was very surprised at how much power it has, and how sharp the blade assembly is. I used it on Russian Sage, which grow thick. The stalks are around 1/2 inch in diameter if I had to guess. I have a huge row of them to cut down to the ground every fall. This hedge trimmer cut through them like it was nothing. This thing has plenty of power. I have had other brands burn out trying to cut down the thick sage. Very impressive hedge trimmer. It has a slight heft to it, but manageable for any one in my opinion. I will say the place where you wrap your extension cord to prevent accidental unplugging is useless. The should have done a better design. Oh, and the the rotating handle can come in handy for 90 or 45 degree cuts on hedges (like Arctic Willows for example). The blades are widely spaced, which is perfect for heavy bushes. Great utility overall from this tool!

Absolutely wonderful product! Well built worth the price. Does exactly what the manufacturer says. No branches get caught in the blades. We have used it on good sized shrubs. Even bought our daughter one in blue!!

I bought this to replace my very old Black & Decker hedge trimmer. I was skeptical of a Chinese made tool because I've had bad experiences with the poor metal quality of Chinese steel in the past. This tool did an excellent job of trimming my evergreen shrubs, leaving the stems cleanly cut. I would have rated this a "5" if the product wasn't so noisy. I recommend wearing ear protection when using this trimmer. (My old Black & Decker was also very noisy.) The safety switches are nicely designed to prevent most accidents common to trimming shrubs. The swivel handle is also a nice touch, making it more comfortable to position your hands between trimming horizontal versus vertical surfaces. Some reviews mention difficulty obtaining repair parts. I am hoping this product will last as long as my old Black & Decker did. No matter which make/model trimmer you buy, it will require regular cleaning and oiling to keep it running well.

Regarding my new 4.8 amp Garcare hedge trimmers, I would like to say that I am satisfied and impressed by the quality of this product. I have lived in my house for six years and have bushes under the windows in the front of the house which have never been trimmed. I myself do not know much about what I needed for this job nor about trimmers and their specific features. I looked at many different models and styles some were gas powered, some electric. There are various levels of horsepower and torque available and I was not sure what I would need for these bushes but I wanted to be sure it would be powerful enough without going overboard. I found the 4.8 amp to be just enough power and still lightweight for me to handle and work with. I also like the rotating handle which allows for different angles of cutting and reaching difficult areas. I am including both before and after photos of my bushes to show just how much I was able to accomplish in just a few minutes of work. The trimmers are sharp and easily cut through my thick bristled shrub and I appreciate the blade cover for storing them and taking them in the trunk of my car. I used a short 20 foot extension cord to plug into an outdoor outlet on the house and it was easy to move around without needing to drag a long heavy cord. I did pull the plug from the cord a couple times before I finished but overall it worked very well. I think if you're looking for a good household trimmer that is versatile and affordable you will not go wrong with the Garcare 4.8 amp hedge trimmers.

It does a great job, but it's heavy. Much heavier than my previous one

I already own gas powered hedge trimmers and purchased this one for a backup. Our entire yard is 'fenced' with thick, tall heavy hedges. So we get a LOT of use from our hedge trimmers. First of all, these trimmers arrived completely assembled and ready to use out of the box. The box is shaped to the trimmers, so no huge bulky box to dispose of. They have a nice guard covering the blades, which I appreciate so that, when stored, you don't accidentally slice open an appendage accidentally while reaching around it. The plug is a two prong. So you don't need a three prong extension cord. Pros: 1. These hedge trimmers are very lightweight. This feature makes me like these over my gas powered ones because our bushes are tall and I don't like holding the heavier gas powered ones over my head or for a long period of time. 2. They are very sharp and sliced right through our thick hedges like butter. 3. They are nice looking and easy to use and store. 4. There is a safety bar, like a lawn mower has, so if you drop them, they stop immediately. Cons: 1. They require an extension cord, which you must purchase separately. I rocemmend buying a long one for ease of use. 2. When you hold the trimmers up higher, the cord tends to fall off, unplugging the machine. I recommend a strip of duct tape to keep the two attached. Overall, these are very nice hedge trimmers, especially for the price. I would certainly recommend to a friend.

I’ve had this GARCARE hedge trimmer for a few years now, and it’s been a total workhorse. The 24-inch blade cuts cleanly and quickly, even through thicker branches, and it has held up well with regular use. It’s lightweight, easy to handle, and I like that it’s corded — plenty of consistent power without worrying about batteries. The build quality is solid, and it still performs like new. Definitely one of the best garden tools I’ve bought!

This trimmer has excellent double edge blades and a great cutting length. It made trimming my 75’ of cedars a breeze. I was cutting some fairly thick branches that would have choked my old trimmer. It had tonnes of power and is so sharp that it made quick work of what used to take me a whole day. Did a bunch more trimming afterwards and the blades maintain their edge pretty well.
