Exciting story!
I was a very casual soccer fan when Leicester won the championship. I was vaguely aware of their incredible season while it was happening, but wasn't really following the story. This book fills in the details. I now follow European soccer / football more closely, and it's interesting to see where the key players from Leicester's championship season are today.

Amazing Underdog Story
Amazing read & amazing story! In sports, moments like these live generations. Teams & seasons like these are so special because they are contrary to everything we are taught in life regarding how to become successful.

THE BOOK I WAS HOPING FOR
I wanted a book that captured the spirit of Leicester City in their improbable march to the Premier League title. Rob Tanner has done just that. (I was afraid that this might be a poorly written, poorly edited rush job slapped together to capitalize on Leicester’s success.)Mr. Tanner has divided the chapters into “months” filled with game highlights, player backstories, fan sentiment, and some of his own blog posts as the Foxes built momentum. The monthly chapters serve as a good vehicle for capturing the wave of belief and interest in the Foxes as the season progressed. You do not have to be a Leicester fan to enjoy “5000-1” as it reminds the reader of the great ride provided by the 2015-2016 EPL season.

I thoroughly recommend it to anyone who has an interest in sports ...
This is a very personal, match by match analysis of the Leicester City story from the avoidance of relegation to the premiership title. Rob Tanner was very close, and in a very privileged position, with access to all sorts of things that were going on. It's well written and fascinating. I thoroughly recommend it to anyone who has an interest in sports generally, but football in particular.

Foxes rule
Though I live in the USA now, I attended LCFC games at Filbert St in the mid 1950's by cycling over from Rubgy, weather permitting. Have been a supporter ever since. Never thought I would see the day they won the EPL. Go Foxes, win the Champions League trophy.

Not much of a story. Just superlatives and tables.
A bit disappointing. What was great was it listed Leicester progress through the season. But it mostly went on and on about "woah, it was a unbelievable achievement. I got lots of interviews because of LCFC." I love the table where the odds of Leicester City winning the title. a little insight to Leicester but really, no interviews with Leicester players?

Truly dreadful
If you are looking for a well written and insightful book about one of the most incredible sporting achievements in history then this book is not for you.Filled with platitudes and clichés and heavily reliant on vague comments from post-match interviews the book plods on repetitively offering almost zero insight. Particularly disappointed as it was written by the Leicester Mercury's chief football. Any idiot could have written this in an afternoon. He is stealing a living.

Enthralling underdog story
2015-2016 will be the period when the underdog managed to upset the establishment applecart in so many ways, and none more enthusiastic than Leicester City Football Club.Rob Tanner, a local sporting journalist, acts as a fly-on-the-wall as he charts the quite unbelievable, but seemingly inexorable, rise of an unfashionable football team from relegation candidates to Premier League Champions in the space of just a year. Like the victorious team itself, the author successfully conveys the sense of "I can't believe this is actually happening on my watch".Leicester relied substantially on cast-off players from other teams, and hence spent very little money compared to some of the bigger clubs. Depending on your method of calculation, the cost of the entire team amounted to less than the transfer value of a single player at Manchester City or Arsenal.Narrowly avoiding relegation at the end of the 2014/15 season thanks to the previous manager's groundwork, they then hired Claudio Ranieri, a manager who was himself a bit of a cast-off. Success in the 2015/16 season was deemed so unlikely that at least two bookmakers offered odds of 5000-1 (available as late as October 2015) against Leicester ending up as champions, whilst everybody thought they were most likely to be relegated. The rest, as they say, is history, and Tanner is to be congratulated on having written a superb story. If you want to understand how hunger can drive people to play beyond their ability, read this book.

great memories
As someone who is a lifelong fan and season ticket holder until I moved to Africa, I watched this from my local bar in Tanzania, literally in the middle of nowhere. This book made my sine tingle with the memories and images it formed.5000-1. Little Leicester premier league champions. The ultimate underdog moment. The phoenix moment. The greatest ever sporting moment.A good read. Good job Rob Tanner.

A 5,000-1 Shot
An excellent review of a history making season in the Premier League and a great achievement by the club considered by just about everybody to be the least likely to become Champions. An easily readable book. The author, Rob Tanner, obviously knows Leicester City inside out. I enjoyed it immensely.
