Gateway model
This was such a satisfying build. Definitely took many hours to paint and assemble though. Good decals, no tears.

Great!
My son loves it. We had a great time painting and gluing it. All the PL Star Trek models are wonderful.

Back again
I like the fact that it was not molded in clear, has better detail than my old one years ago. The first one I got was 24"long but was not as detailed as this one, thank you very much for having it in stock!

Incredible for the price! Don’t be impatient
This model is beyond incredible. As someone who grew up watching the daring adventures of Katherine Janeway and her crew, a model like this is the greatest thing I could have ever asked for.Unfortunately the nacelles don’t move into their warp position as I built this model with a friend who’s new to model making and didn’t exactly follow the instructions. However this was completely builder error not manufacturing error. With enough effort, this model could look tv show perfect. I myself couldn’t wait to get it done, and skimped on the painting, but I still live how it looks. Whether you’re an expert, or this is your first model, this set is perfect for you. And I cannot stress enough just how bang for your buck it is.But please note to any new model maker out there, these aren’t finished in a few hours. If you want your set to look just like the one you grew up watching on the tube, take your time. The longer you’re willing to wait and put in the effort the better it will be. I promise, it’s worth it.

The kit is a superb piece of engineering and very high quality. The decals... not so much.
I've built a few of the European Revell versions of this. The 1.1000 scale is far more sensible and, where there is detail moulded in, that detail is sharp and crisp. There are notable absences of detail around the edge of the saucer and these are made up with the decals (more on these later). The lower scale would explain why the sensor platforms aren't all moulded in, except that they're moulded in elsewhere, so this omission does hurt the overall quality of finish. The hinges in the engine pylons are very well engineered, much better than Revells solution a few decades back, and they have stuck with the studio model proportions rather than the 'hunch-back' CGI model. Every thing goes together very smoothly and you genuinely do not need a lot of glue. I also didn't need any filler at all. It goes together better than the Discovery Kits do.The problem with the decals is not that they are badly made but that they seem to have aged very fast. I've built the Revell kits both when they came out and more recently. Those decals still go on okay after a very delicate varnish coating and a lot of support when they're being slipped into place. The decals in the 'wall-paper' kits Polar Lights have been making the last few years, all went on great. The decals in this kit were very brittle. Micro-sol and other products didn't help, they just crumbled, even after varnishing. I wound up printing my own. They are still very clear, the colours look good but I think the film has aged badly. The kits itself is a 10/10 but with the decals aging as they have, the overall 'out of the box' finish is greatly diminished and you need a scanner and a printer to get the best out of this.Always scan the decals of any kit before you use them ; )
