Would this work for a nvidia gtx 1070 g1 card work?

I used it for 1080ti and it works just fine

This may seem like a dumb question but which one is the male and female just trying to make sure

Male has the pins sticking out (though there's usually a plastic housing around them) and female has the receptacles for the pins to be inserted into - (just like you'd probably think).

Can i connect 8pin male end of this adapter to my psu's 8 pin slot and connect my psu's 6pin cable (for sata hdd) to 6 pin female end of this adapter?

No, this cable is for the other way around. This cable connects the 6-pin cable from your PSU into the 8-pin connector on a video card. As a side note, a SATA hdd does not use a 6-pin cable. It has it's own 'SATA' flat cable.

I just bought a gtx 1070ti buy my evga 650 watt power supply only has two 6 pin conntectors, will this adapter supply enough power to my gpu?

That's its intended purpose. Just make sure that all the rest of your peripherals are not pulling more power than the PSU can supply when you add the card.
