Base installed easily into concrete and so far has been extremely sturdy. Had an issue with one of the two I ordered having defective part and manufacturer did not hesitate to send out replacement.

I bought a 10 ft. square offset rotating umbrella and the 4 piece 220 lb. Base. My umbrella works well and rotates easily. But there was a problem. Even though the picture shows the base being used on a rotating umbrella, there was no way the base pieces would fully interlock and still be able to rotate. You could not depress the rotation release pedal. I had to raise the rotating assembly 2 inches above the bottom X frame. I bought 200 M8 x 24 flat washers and 4 M8 X 1.25 X 80 socket headed cap screws (Bolts you tighten with an allen wrench.) I stacked 30 washers between the X base and the rotating assembly and used the longer bolts then everything worked well. It would probably be a 5 star rating if not for me having to modify it to work with the base. Nowhere in the base description did I see where it said "not to be used with a rotating umbrella.FootnotePurple leaf saw my post and realized that a part was somehow left out of the base I bought for the umbrella. They contacted me and immediately sent me the spacer that takes the place of the washers. Everything works fine and I have changed my rating to 5 star. The customer service was outstanding.

Our frame of reference is the IKEA umbrella which is a bit less expensive than this one… But not by much. In comparison, this seems to be made it to a far higher quality specification not to mention that all of the parts are a nice neutral gray color.The umbrella definitely needs a solid base and I was able to construct a weighted box out of wood and mounted to an adjacent fence structure as well as filled it with rocks to keep it super sturdy.It opens up amazingly easily and closes to a discreet form. See pictures.My only complaint is that as of today, I cannot order another one. :-)

My spouse and I spent a significant time researching umbrellas, so we were excited when we received our 10' Cantilever Umbrella today which arrived earlier than expected. During assembly, we noticed that the stand leans considerably to one side due to a soldering imperfection that is not at a 90 degree angle when attached to the base. Very frustrating! We've contacted the manufacturer today to request a replacement part to be sent (we're not looking for a total replacement) and will update the review once we've received a response from their customer service team. Hoping we made the right decision as we're now stuck with a defective umbrella.***UPDATE: After sending an email to Purple Leaf's customer service team on Saturday, I received a prompt response during the weekend and I also received a follow up call on Monday explaining that the stand is intended to tilt 2-3% away from the umbrella according to the manufacturer to compensate weight of the open umbrella and that it is not a defect as I feared. Thank you for the quick reply.

For months, I had compared several cantilever umbrella shades online and finally decided to go with Purple Leaf for the following reasons:1. The geometry and the color/finish of the pole seem to be much more contemporary/modern than most brands. It is devoid of unnecessary decorations/details.2. I found most color combinations accentuate the umbrella's structure in an unwanted way that simply adds a ton of visual clutter and distraction from your garden.5. When checking out the base options on Purple Leaf's website, one could find many different types - including in-ground and flush mount types. The company is serious about offering products that work for most customers.To provide shade for my 5'x5' table, I ordered a 9'x9' umbrella, which is giant, with a water-filled wheelbase. The instruction is clear. The setup took less than an hour. I am 5'-2" and have no problem operating the tilt and the 360-degree rotation. The product is solid. I had a small issue with the finish on the pole due to the pole being handled when the paint was still tender in the factory. The Purple Leaf team took care of it. The customer service was superb.If a cantilever umbrella is what you need (I had to make sure the plants that need full sun won't be shaded, thus flexibility was a key factor), look no further. Be sure to head to Purple Leaf's website which offers more options than you can imagine.

One Word AMAZING! This umbrella is beautiful and when it opens up it feels Luxurious. I’m so glad that I made this purchase and I would definitely recommend it to friends and family. The protective cover is another plus which will keep my investment in pristine condition for many years to come.

Super happy with the product, clean look, easy to assemble, sturdy, overall extremely happy with this purchase!I did purchase on Amazon instead of Purple leafs website, because when you went to purchase on their website it seemed scammy and sketchy so I felt that if something was wrong I felt better buying it through Amazon insteadI bought the heavier weight and I am happy I did so!

I was expecting some assembly, but there were 9 screws to put it together….buy the plastic base for sure, huge difference if it is windy…filled with water and it won’t budge. Excellent purchase. If you need a big umbrella for your back yard patio, this is the one to buy!!
