Versatile base, adequate rod holder
I did a lot of research before eventually deciding on the RailBlaza versatrack and their accessories. As for the mini port track mount, I like that it is versatile and can accept an array of accessories. It is easy to put on, take, off, lock, and unlock. The sellers description said it is not to be used for trolling, and I see that now after having used it a few times. I would not trust the lock system to a big fish. But I knew what I was getting into with that due to the honest description of the product. The only minor inconvenience I experienced was that the rubber washer on the bass was too thick to allow sliding it into the track. Not sure if that is by design in order to allow it to work securely with other railblaza tracks? Either way, no biggie. The rod holder itself does what it is intended to do: adjustable angle, strap to secure your pole, and sleek profile. Again, the entire system is not super sturdy, so I wouldn't trust it to a big fish, but it's fine for securing your pole as you're paddling to the next spot.

This product has a weak locking feature.
Not happy with this product. First run on a lake with this product and I lost it in the water due to the Plastic locking feature is weak. Lock was set, pole in holder, fish on my line and when I grabbed my pole to set the hook the holder came loose from the base and fell in the water. Gone! The other holder I have, a Railblaza with starport HD base, has a much more solid locking feature. Shame on me for not sticking with that product and buying a second one. Which I will now.

Inferior Design
I bought three separate rod holders to compare how they'd work on my Brooklyn Kayak. Unfortunately The RAILBLAZA R, came in last place so I have returned this item. The track mount does not easily screw or unscrew. I had to use pliers to initially loosen it and struggled to tighten it on my wider track system. The locking mechanism to hold the rod holder onto the track mount was extremely difficult to latch and unlatch. And the rod holder itself has a cheap rubber strap to lock in my rods. The spinning and baitcasting rods did not sit in the holder as well. I found the YAKATTACK Omega Rod Holder to have far superior design in all aspects.

Track nut fell right off into water!
The small flat nut which goes in the track fell off the first time I took it off my yak. Fell right in murky water and disappeared of course. It’s not welded, just screwed on, way too easy to pull off. New nut costs 1/3 of what I paid for the whole unit. If you have one of these, loctite that sucker on there! Otherwise works well, but the screw off nut on this is a fail in design to me. I have Scotty mounts as well, and their nut is crimped on. Not gonna lose that!

It's ok. Not very adjustable.
This item doesn't have very easy adjustability. The only adjustment that can be made easily is the angle of the holder. The only way to rotate it is to slide the clip to open the star connector, remove the holder from the star adapter, and replace the holder and clip. Also, the only way to lock the rod in place is with a rubber band like strap, seems a little cheap. Other than that, it looks like it will work to hold a rod.
