So much better than a Bria-type pitcher but not $$$ like many countertop systems
When the water dispenser on our refrigerator broke, I started searching for a filtration system that would suit my requirements. I immediately learned pitcher type water filters are certainly inexpensive but basically make the water taste and look good while removing a few impurities (which often leech back into the water). I wanted to have a much more robust filtering system that met higher requirements. There was a huge jump in price from pitchers at $30 or 40 dollars to a several hundred dollar investment which would require plumbing, etc. So the Aquasana was a rare middle-of-the-road solution. I have to admit that I really wanted/needed to like this system; the good news is that it has not been an effort to do so. After choosing Aquasana I had to decided whether I wanted the dispenser or pitcher type. I wanted a constant supply of filtered water, not what would fit in the pitcher. Also, it was not important to me that the water be chilled; I was fine with room temperature water over ice. Now that I own the unit, I am extremely happy I made that choice. The potential problems with this entire set-up are the result of removing the tank or pitcher from the unit and replacing it. I have had my unit for several months and have only separated the two pieces once, when replacing the filter. Otherwise, my tank stays put on the dispenser and is refilled via a regular pitcher and a funnel. It can be refilled as often as I like and there is no opportunity for leaks. As long as you put water in, there will always be available filtered water. In other words the dispenser works just as well for one person or a family of eight. I didn't understand what the reviewers meant when they talked about the loud noise. The only time you hear a noise at all is when you push the button to dispense water into your glass. It might last a whopping 15 - 20 seconds and is obviously the sound of a pump forcing the water through the filter. It is not a jolting noise which suddenly occurs with no warning; you are the one controlling it. Replacing the filter does involve removing the dispenser from the base unit; therefore, there probably will be some leakage which I anticipated. I moved my entire unit over to as near the sink as I could so any escaping water wouldn't be a problem. After I finished replacing the filter (a breeze to do), I carefully reseated the dispenser in the "socket" and made sure it was properly aligned. Then I moved the entire unit back to its normal place on the kitchen counter and refilled the dispenser. A blinking red light comes on to alert you the filter will be out soon; when it changes to constant red, it is time to change it out. Depending on use, there will be a few days in between. You will reset the alert by pressing a reset button - very intuitive. This system can be monitored on a Smart Phone though I cannot imagine how it would be necessary - perhaps fun!

Good filters
I have been using a countertop Aquasauna water dispenser for many years. These are the filters that fit my machine. Although they are not inexpensive, they are a necessity for purified water. I use the water for everyday drinking and my keurig coffee maker. The filters normally last about 2- 2 1/2 months each before the machine indicates time for change. QVC, Aquasauna, and Amazon sells them. I was not impressed with Aquasauna shipping as it took 13 days to receive the filters. During that time, my filter needed changing so I ordered a set of two from Amazon and they arrived within 2 days via Prime shipping. Also, my machine is an old countertop model but, when it dies, Aquasauna's new model uses the same filters. I'm glad I won't have filters sitting around at 2 for $55 which I no longer be able to use.

Portability and power - exactly what I want in a water filtration system
I looked at all of the options, and read many reviews of other water filtration systems, and feel this one is the best "tabletop" one for the money, short of the far more expensive and complicated types that you hook up directly to your water supply. Another advantage is that it seems to be the most efficient and inexpensive motor powered filter that can be taken on camping trips or even motels in regions with bade water, if there is access to electrical plug ins. According to the advertisements this filters better than any of the "gravity only" types, probably due to the 'industrial' sized filter and powerful water pump incorporated into the system, which also delivers the the filtered water quicker than the gravity type pitcher systems. Some reviewers claim their systems leaked water, while mine hasn't at all for the two months I have had it. I suspect this only occurs with the model with the removable pitcher, so recommend purchasing the the model I have without the removable pitcher unit, that also holds more water. The motor is fairly loud, but this doesn't bother me as it apparently does other reviewers. Some people have complained that the filter unit requires exchanging prematurely, though in the two months I have had it, this has not occurred, and if it does before the six month filter life, I will annotate this review.

I have owned an Aquasana water machine that worked well for over 7 years. My old Aquasana had started to leak out of the bottom of the machine so I decided to buy a new machine, as I was completely satisfied with the performance and durability of Aquasana. I purchased the new machine in Oct. of 2019. I didn't set it up for a couple of months because of Christmas and the old machine was still working. When I set up the new machine in late December I had no qualms because of the performance of the original machine. Imagine my disappointment when I noticed a lot of water leaking out of the hole that the power cord was housed in. Every morning I would wake up to a puddle on the counter. Yesterday the machine stopped working completely. Even when plugged in there was no power. Today for the first time in almost 8 years I had to drink water directly from the tap. I guess I will have to contact Aquasana to see if they will help me as it is way past the time for Amazon's help. I know how well this machine cleans tap water, I had done my research before purchasing the original machine. I don't want to go elsewhere for my water needs. Aquasana please tell me this was just a bad machine and that your products have not become what so many other appliances have; faulty after only a few years of use.
