I haven't played sax for over 30 years, and recently decided to pick it up again. I decided to go with this alto sax because the price is incredible. I didn't expect an amazing instrument for the price, but what I got very much met my expectations. It was well packaged, with pieces of rubber preventing any key movement during transport. On first inspection, all the keys and valves looked to be working correctly, and a check with a leak light showed no leaks at all. I threw away the reed that came pre-attached to the mouthpiece, because who knows what dust/dirt/spit it could have picked up. The box of 10 reeds provided were sealed and all look clean and in reasonable shape. They are 2.5 strength, which is no a good reed to start with. I purchased a 1.5 reed, and I can produce a much better tone with that. The tuner works great, but of course it is a chromatic tuner, so every note registers 3 semitones up from how it reads on the staff. Easy to use once you know, but a beginner instrument may want to make that clearer. The only issues I have are with the neck, and with customer support. First, the octave valve lever on the neck is slightly misaligned. Instead of fixing that, they adjusted the cork so it lies flat on the valve. This works, but is a low-quality fix. (-1 star) Second, the sax is blue (lovely colour!), but the neck is clearly teal/cyan - see picture.(-1 star) I decided to contact customer service to see if they would help swap it out, but all the info on the website (reached through the Amazon page) seems to be out of date. I found a completely different email address on a card insert that came with the sax, but have heard nothing back from them there either. (-1 star).

Its a very nice saxophone, value for money, delivered to our doorstep well packed, easy to assemble, well tuned, sleek looking, my daughter 9yrs old was able to use it right away for her class, easy to play, durable, and complete with all the essentials like extra reeds, very nice bag, duster and cloth for cleaning as well as small book music sheets inside and battery-operated tuner with batteries included. Color blue-gold is what we ordered.

Purchased for my son, who used to rent one while in school. Actually he played a Tenor Sax, but he is adjusting to the subtle differences between the two . I am thankful they are so very similar because I didn't know I bought the wrong one. It is beautiful, just as pictured. I got the blue one and it is a gorgeous electric blue. Since it is new, the keys are stiff, but should loosen as he plays. And I love that it comes with EVERYTHING he could possibly need for it right now.

This sax is worth what you pay for. The quality of the instrument is mediocre. The ligature that is comes with is so cheap that rather use a rubber band. The instrument is heavier than it looks and the craftsmanship is poor. The one I got is the blue one and there are a lot of visible missing spots that show the metal part, specially around the tone holes in the bell. In conclusion, you get what you pay for. Do not expect much from it. I have a Selmer Bundy 1973 student model, and the sound is much richer and smother than this. I just bought this to continue my practice because my Selmer is being worked on and it is taking longer than expected due to the overwhelming amount of people fixing their musical instruments.

** as most of the reviews already stated- you get what you pay for My sax had a broken key so I could not play the highest D note... other than that I would give it 5 stars I played the clarinet and have wanted to pick up sax so I bought this instrument. It's been really fun and convinced me that I want to purchase a 'real' sax of a much higher quality - which I have. Regardless, I don't regret purchasing this instrument. I would recommend it for any beginner that is unsure of purchasing/renting a sax.
