Daughter lives hiking now!
May daughter dreads hiking...usually. now she finds it fun to haul her own water and snacks! Great size for her small stature, and enough room for some trail treats. Seems to keep water temperature for long enough. Quality is great!

Perfect size
This was perfect for my 10 yr old daughter, it was a good size for her, haven’t used it yet but cannot wait to, my daughter loved it.

Great for kids and young adults
9 1/2" wide, 16" long. The waist strap has enough play to strap in a Harry Potter book, or expand out to fit me (dad) at a 36" waist..<-- point being, it will fit a wide (no pun intended) range of kids. Bought one blue (8 year old at 4ft, 2" tall) and one pink (11 year old at 4ft, 9" tall). The bag itself weight close to nothing...13.8 ounces to be exact...and that's with the water bag inserted. When filled with water...well, lets do the math. The bag can hold 1.5 liters. One liter of water weighs 2.205 lbs. So, if you filled the bag to its capacity...MATH TIME !!!2.205 lbs. ( per liter) x 1.5 liters (bag capacity) = 3.307 lbs of water (or 52.912 ounces) + 13.8 ounces (for the bag = 52.912 + 13.8 = 66.712 ounces / 16 oz. per lb. = 4.1695lbs <---back pack and water bag filled. Now I don't know about your kids, but mine carry an excess of 20lbs each day to school in their school bag.Now regarding the "bad taste"... rinse out the bag twice. Once with warm water, then once with cold water. Make sure to run water through the hose and mouth piece. The sour "plastic" taste will go away. Every bag has it, don't let anyone tell you different. Either they do it in house and charge you for their work at a high cost for the bag, or you spend 5 minutes of your time and do it yourself. Either way, even with a $100 bag, you can rest assured I would be rinsing that bag just the same....you never know who touched it last ."the hose is too short" <-- I can agree to this with my 11 year old...while wearing the bag. When my 8 year old puts it on, its just right. By "short hose", as some have posted, they mean that while wearing the bag and pulling the hose towards the mouth, the hose kinks...true. But if you also turn your neck towards the hose, it does just fine. So in conclusion: if your child is the type that wants to immediately open box, fill bag, drink bag and always look straight forward while they drink...this bag might not be for you, or them. For the rest of the active kids in the world that would rather keep their water on their back and not have to haul a bottle around...or worse, make you hold their bottle all day...this hydration pack will do the trick. It also has one small hideaway fold down pocket, and a separate compartment for other items (up to a thick sweatshirt) of space on the large zipper area, separate from the section that holds the water bag.Longest review I've posted on Amazon...glad I'm at the end, and I hope this review helps you....and the seller as well.Diego from CA

Good hiking backpack for my toddler
Overall the backpack itself was great quality and fit my 5 year old perfect but I gave it a 4 star because the water pack has a defect and when I tried to add water, it leaked from where you screw it in. If your willing to by a better quality water bag then this backpack is worth it

Water aspect is terrible
Love the backpack itself. Cute and it fits my daughter very comfortably. We’ve been on hikes and she puts her snacks in there as well as her hats or whatever else she needs. The water part of it is.. terrible. The water tasted awful and it didn’t have a place to hang without it getting in the way. It had straps on the sides but the hose itself was to long and on top of that, when she tried to drink out of it, she’d have to suck really hard just to get a bit of water. We use the backpack, but if you’re looking for one where the water attachment works, this isn’t it.

Great bag
Very good material, easy to clean, my kids love them. We use them to go to Disney. Love that they hold so much water and the straw has a cap to keep the end clean. My kids say they are very comfy to wear all day.
