DynamatEn-Wall Speaker Enclosure System – Reduces Vibration & Projects Clearer Sound into Your Room – Easy Install – for 6 Inch Walls

I've installed 2 of these thus far and as with everything in life the more I do it the better the install seems. The first one I think I left too many potential gaps for air to escape. To the majority of us this does not make a difference but I can sort of tell but not to the point I’m going to rip it out and redo it. If you do a search for *sound intensity db* you will go blind in reading what and how a 1 db makes a difference although our human ear perspectives also vary greatly, even 1 db moving around in a 5 foot circle from the source of sound can vary greatly to each of us. In the end yes I recommend the product and it helps. For comparison in my recently sold home I had 8 inch speakers, no insulation and no dynamat en-wall system. Sound bleed and things vibrated, not too annoying, but for the new house this got me thinking about optimizing my sound. Added this product to new home in garage with 8 inch speakers, and can notice a difference and it's enough for me to have now ordered 2 more for my zone 3 of my house install. What is comes down to, be honest, are you the type of person who's light switch bolts have to align in the same direction throughout your home? Will you only use thicker higher quality gold plated ends for your wire connections? Will you only download 4k movies because 1080 HD is terrible to you? Then go with this product. Flip side if you use wires that are the lowest price from a major online retailer? You could care less if your car wheel covers all match? Then you probably be happy using the roof flashing from big box home repair store and some of the pink stuff insulation behind it, maybe cut up an old egg crate foam mattress to protect your equipment from the insulation in the home. It comes down to be honest with what you find value in. Dynamat is trusted name for a reason. And if you are the in-between person willing to spend a 2x more money for a trusted brand name, but don't think it's worth spending 3-5x the money for similar product, amazon offers a lot of other options, but you will have to do some homework and put the kit together yourself, this one takes the hours of searching and trial and error out of it, in a nice complete kit. We couldn’t find a backer box to fit our speakers anywhere including at the Klipsch website. We used these behind in-wall Klipsch speakers instead. It made such a big difference in sound quality and kept the walls from rattling. It’s very easy to install.

Installed this in a hollow 2x4 stud wall, behind an in-wall speaker with no enclosure. Perhaps by some technical measure the sound quality improved and the sound leakage into the room behind the speaker wall improved, but there is no audible difference in the before and after. What a profound waste of time and money.

It's a well-conceived product. It definitely helps to decouple the in wall speaker vibrations from the wall structure. I added some more dynamat extreme to the inner skin of the drywall as far up and down from the hole opening as I could reach. I also added some to the studs on either side of the speaker opening. The En-wall system then fit perfectly. I think this is an expensive but good product for the retrofit market.

Used 5 of the 4” kits for in wall speakers for a surround sound system. The materials were great and the installation wasn’t difficult, but it got easier each time. A HUGE improvement, as no sound is now heard in the bedrooms on either side of the entertainment room. Highly recommend this product to solve your lack of sound damping in your walls.
