Great read
Bought for my Mom. She said it's a different format or style than what Debbie normally writes but can relate to a younger age group - 30s to 40s?? She recommended I read this as well, she really enjoyed it and could hardly put it down

Not my cup of tea
I write this as someone who is decidedly not within Debbie's target audience— a 20 year old non-binary college student— but also as someone who does really want to enjoy romance novels, and has enjoyed them in the past. I also want to note that as an author myself, it's hard work writing a novel and I commend Ms. Macomber on her repeated and obvious success and passion for it.But this was not one that I enjoyed.I admit that I haven't read the second story in this book, and I'm not going to, so I'm giving the review an extra star for the potential that the second story is better than the first. The first story, Love 'n' Marriage, had a fun if predictable premise. I would have been okay if the story followed a formula that fulfilled expectations and didn't try to embellish with quirky (read: annoying) characters.I couldn't stand Stephanie (the heroine) She definitely doesn't speak or think like a 24-26 year old (I can't quite remember how old she's supposed to be), is foolish and naive, and seems to care very little about her job, honestly. She doesn't act like any sane person would, complains about a demanding work schedule in a way a child would to her boss/love interest's face, and ping-pongs wildly between being a simpering fool to rude fool. And her "friends" who convince her to get with her boss are insufferable. I ended up skipping the sections with them entirely. They refuse to be grounded in reality and picture everything as a romance novel, calling Stephanie and Jonas the perfect heroine and hero (not very slick, Ms. Macomber), and seem to view the lives of the main characters as some kind of game.Jonas (the hero) is basic and boring, has hard shelled exterior, blue eyes, etc. The only thing of note about him is his limp and cane. I was at first excited to see some disability representation, but something about the way it was talked about in the text rubbed me wrong and I skipped most of the paragraphs where they talked about it, especially when Stephanie tried to "help" him with it (acting as if she knew what his body needed more than he did, and taking it personally when he didn't want to talk about it.)I wasn't expecting or wanting a masterpiece. This just was just disappointing. But, all this aside, I did manage to read almost all the novel. So that has to count for something. I was able to escape for a while and Love 'n' Marriage certainly did that for me. However, I'll be passing the book onto someone else, and I don't think I'm going to pick up another one of her books for a long while.

Perfect gift for Debbie Macomber fans.
I gifted this to my sister. A selfish gift, on my part because she loved it and returned it to me.
