Extremely disappointing
Since Saunders sells at a price above competitor Winsome Woods, I blindly expected quality to be superior. I was wrong. - Instructions are mediocre and lack critical, timely information. You may have to switch parts around when you realize your mistake. - The sliding moldings do not slide. And if you try brute force... - The sliding moldings are made of pressboard, akin to hardboard but not as dense. They will easily break, delaminate and crumble under the gentlest touch of a rubber mallet. - Packing is hit-or-miss. Some parts will probably be damaged. Plan a retouch pencil in appropriate color. Also, expect a styrofoam snowfall from all the friction. - Result looks good - aside from the damage showing, the cracked top and the bruised ego.Altogether, a frustrating and disappointing experience.I was just about to invest heavily in this brand; glad I first did this test. I would rank it just above Closet Maid, but not that far, and way down the final list. There are better flatpacked furniture manufacturers out there, many cheaper.

Decently priced, decent looking, decent quality shelving.
So I ended up picking this up to expand my living room storage for books and box sets etc. This shelf is actually kind of perfect for my living room and gives me a nice amount of space to organize some larger items I have in my collection. Took about an hour to put together solo, not difficult, everything lined up without issue.Quality wise, well, you get what you pay for and this obviously isn't a $500 shelf... it's adequate and looks a bit nicer than it probably should though when light hits it at certain angles you can tell it's not real wood. Seems like it will hold some weight decently well though I won't be pushing it. Should also mention it's a darker cherry colour in person, which in my case is a good thing and my preference, the pics for the product are obviously taken under bright lights.TL;DR If you need some extra storage space and have limited space, this should fit your needs. It looks pretty good though I'd maybe avoid loading it up with super heavy books and potentially keep a wood colour touch up marker handy just in case you scratch it. At the end of the day this shelf works well for me and I'm satisfied with my purchase. :)

Looks great, but be careful assembling.
Very nice unit, looks way more expensive than it was, very good value. But, there is always a but, the reason I gave 4 stars is that the screws that hold the moulding onto the top are too long. Be very careful when putting those 3 screws in as they will go thru the top and ruin the finish. I was lucky and had my hand on the top side and felt them just before they broke thru so the damage was minimal.

Absolutely beautiful!
I love the look of this bookcase. I am not particularly handy, but I have already worked with other "assembly-required" furniture. No problems following the instructions. Just a few comments: It came well packaged and undamaged. As a wood product, I was concerned that I might smell like chemicals, but it didn't. I accidentally dropped the middle shelf with the trim and it cracked along the narrow strip that connects the shelf to the trim, so care is required. (It still looked good, so I didn't have to resort to any repairs.) The only thing I changed in the assembly was to use screws rather than the provided nails to connect the backing. (The backing tends to come off in all our other bookshelves.) I hammered the tips of the screws in and then used an electric screwdriver to put them in all the way.I gave only 4 stars because they didn't provide the screws. Otherwise, it's 5.

Looks great
All the parts fit perfectly and it is high quality. It is nice to get something that is made in North America and not from China. The quality standards are much higher in North America.
