I was skeptical
The instructions were very clear; Tab up means its off, tab down when you want it on.I use this for my in wall AC unit when we go on vacation. I have cats and i need to be sure they are comfortable. Also i wanted to be sure my apartment stayed cool. It was an unusually warm summer so i ended up keeping it on more than not. It works great as long as my teenager doesnt mess with the dial!

Complex to program
This may be a great timer but it's not easy to program. Nothing intuitive about programming. Certainly not for an older person or for a person that does not have great vision.

Definitely the timer to get!
I bought this timer to manage my espresso machine to warm up each morning before I get up. It does this job to the tee. I leave the espresso on the on setting and plug it directly into the timer. As described there are 20on/off points you can manually program. If you know how to program your AC, you can program this timer as it is pretty self explanatory. For each point, you can select an individual day, staggered days, or weekend. If you play around, you can come up with very intricate schedules. I wouldn't imagine you need more than 14 memory points, 20 should cover most applications. I ended up using 6.There is an override button for when you want to break away from schedule. It also has fancy features such as to turn on/off on sunrise/sunset but I didn't leverage those features.I could see this timer used in quite a few applications such as controlling lighting and go as far as energy conservation.

Cheap
Even though product works within marked parameters would not trust unsupervised.

Reliable
Two years later and this product is still working great. We have it set to turn on at "sunset" and turn off at 9:30 every night and it's been perfect for our needs. Just checked and it's running 3 minutes fast, but over a two year period I am plenty OK with that. I'm pretty sure it was easy to use when we first set it up, but haven't had to touch it in a long time so it's hard to remember :)

Set and forget - works great
I use this to control my espresso machine, since it takes a long time to heat up and I like it ready when I awaken each morning. I had been using a fairly similar Intermatic unit, but my 1500 watt espresso machine seemed to be a bit much for it, and it would get hot enough that I worried I might be overloading it. The NSI doesn't seem to have any trouble with the 1500 watt load, and so far it's been completely reliable.Compared to the Intermatic, the NSI is easier to program, but not quite as capable of handling complex requirements. Honestly, if I wanted complicated on/off sequences, I probably wouldn't do it with a timer - a much better alternative is a remote operated Z-wave module and a home automation controller. For me, turning on my espresso maker at 6:00AM and then off at 10:00PM is a task any product could handle. The programming takes a few minutes to figure out, but it's easy enough once you get the hang of it. Certainly easier than most of the other brands. For me, the only issue is that I have a difficult time seeing the display - a lighted magnifying glass was needed, and of course, that means your hands are full trying to push all the right buttons. Minor complaint overall, though.I like that there's a battery backup, so I don't need to worry about the timer coming on at odd times after a power outage (we get plenty!). It's been totally set and forget, and in my book, that makes it a perfect solution.

Excellent timer.
I use this housed in my outdoor low-voltage landscape transformer. It works as advertised. The feature I like best is that you can program it to turn on at Sunset instead of a specified time. My old timer I had to periodically move forward the turn on time to keep pace with the later and later sunset during the spring and summer. In fact, I bought a second one for my other landscaping transformer. I would recommend again.

not exact
The picture shows the outlet for the timed device to be on the bottom of the timer. That is what I needed as this was an exact replacement (model number) for the current timer. The timer has the outlet on the side which will not work and therefore is not an exact replacement.
