The color, officially described as "cardinal" if I'm not mistaken, is definitely a burgundy hue and a misleading name. That said, I was replacing the one I already have, so I wasn't taken aback or disappointed.As for the hat, It's made of a comfortable weight cotton and utilizes a brown leather strap for adjustment. My only complaint is that it has to be replaced somewhat frequently because the unstructured crown loses its shape, causing it to pucker between the seams and effectively shrink. I'd rather pay a few dollars more and avoid that for a slightly longer time, but it's not an option for a Yankees cap in this color. Beyond that, it's well made like any other '47 hat, and completely satisfactory.

Nice color and it fits as expected, it is soft not so sturdy.

The picture shows a faded red hat, the description says Cardinal which is red. The hat color is a burgundy,maroon. Much closer to a purple than a red.
