Intended to use it for my mom's bed rail, as mom has a very thick mattress with recessed bed frame, I have to use this up side down (with the little ear pointing up). I was worried about whether it is stiff enough to hold the rail frame, so I bought two pairs. But after getting it and feel it by trying to bend it, I think one pair would be enough. It's very stiff. I will share more thoughts and photo after I install the rail with them. So far I am pleased with the quality though the long side is little shorter than I expected, It's 15" not 17". It definitely needs to be attached to a plywood board to hold the pivoting force under the mattress. (I guess it's the same material they use to make the standard 3" height bracket, by increase the height by 2" on the short side, you loose 2" on the long side. So the long side is not 17", it's only 15". This should be updated on the web site or to a longer steel blade).Update: After the railing arrived, I installed the railing with these two pairs of brackets. It holds the rail very firmly, possible two will do the job, but to be save I used two pairs. Mounted the brackets on a 1/2" thick plywood and laid the plywood underneath the mattress.

The product is working fine and I use it every day. I had to buy it because the one that comes with the product is only 3”. I have done made a similar but fixed bed rail to utilize the original bracket.

The braces aren't the same size. One's bigger than the other.
