The Ghost Ship (Jack Jones)

Fun, Kind-Hearted Adventure
Saw the product description on the title page listing that this book does not have "Violence or Bad guys" which for our niece, is a very big deal. She likes adventure and fun, but the darker elements of kids books she really doesn't care for, and since she's a fan of mysteries/pirates, thought this could be a great pick, and it definitely was!The characters and plot are easy to follow, simple enough to understand but not so easy as to give away the mystery of the ship. The illustrations do a fantastic job of presenting the content visually, helping the readers more easily imagine exactly what the author was describing. For anyone with a younger kid who doesn't like stories with 'bad guys' or darker themes, then The Ghost Ship is a really fun read!

Lovely little book
This really is a lovely little book, it has a kind and very fun nature and is written very well. I also like the illustrations and so did my two girls. We read the book in the evenings before bed and we have read it many times. My youngest really loved it and now plays imaginary games based on the story.I also found myself really enjoying the story the first time around. The story is engaging and there is lots of mystery to get to grips with, it really helps children work things out and get their imagination going.Finding a empty trawler or 'ghost ship' is always a great start for an adventure! This is a very easy book to recommend, its fun and gentle whilst ticking all the right boxes for children's development too. Great stuff!

Spectacular adventure story for kids
I loved absolutely everything about this book. It's exactly what it claims to be: a wholesome adventure story for kids where there's no fighting and no bad guys. The three main characters model what constructive problem-solving ought to look like; they're always building off each other's ideas, not sniping at each other or fighting among themselves. The author's descriptions were vivid, and when coupled with the illustrations, gave me a really clear mental image of what he was trying to describe. If you know a kid who loves adventure stories and you don't want them reading about violence and death, this book - and the entire series - should be your go-to.

Very nice and funny
This adventure story will touch many hearts. The characters are nicely portrayed, and the writing style is vivid. Many children like adventures, and if they receive this book, they will enjoy it a lot. It is polite, clean, and contains no aggressivity or anything bad. I recommend.

Loved It
This was the sweetest little book for kids. It took me right back to my childhood and reading adventures. Three friends head to the beach after their school gets cancelled. There they discover a ghost ship, and what follows is an exciting story about heroism and rescue. The author did a great job of capturing the emotions of children...how they would feel when school gets cancelled, when they embark on an adventure, when they have to make difficult choices, etc. I read children's books to relax. I think adults and kids would love this story.

A great ‘good night chapter book’ for kids who love adventures.
The author of the Jack Jones series understands kids and shows them how to be careful in their own activities but accept guidance in hairy situations. Even though there are no real ghosts or pirates in this book it is an exciting, terrific read. The ocean and the challenge of a marine rescue make a scary story but not scary enough to put off kids in the age group of 6 to 12. Maybe the ocean rescue is a little bit too simple, compared to real life?
