Book is nice to have , to read to reference etc . It's nice to see the photos to see different years of production and different rare models of the R129. If thinking of buying your first merecedes R129 good reading .

Great information throughout. Even though I thought I knew a lot about the R129 I still learnt interesting new information.A well worthwhile read, especially 8f searching for a 129 or if you own one.

This is a great detailed book on the r129 SLOut of all the books written on the r129 this for me is the best. Though a little out of date now. Remember there's no real bad r129 provided you buy one that has a full service history and preferably garaged. Part of a collection, you'll pay more but hey. Nothing more expensive than a cheap Mercedes...ehThe other books tend to go a lot into the history of Mercedes, if that's what you want.For a matter of fact book...this is best and well priced on kindle.Hope this has helped you.

This is the best book on the R129 I have seen so far and an absolute must for anyone planning to buy one. It has plenty of technical information including a mention (if only in passing) of the disastrous biodegradable wiring insulation used in Mercedes cars between 1992 and 1996. The author appears to favour the post face lift models, an opinion not universally shared, and I would have liked to see more on the earlier models, but otherwise this is a great book.

This is a very informative review of the build of the R129. It included information I hadn't come across before, particularly on the special editions and models produced by other tuners. There were a couple of models mentioned with different engines I hadn't known were produced, and I thought I knew the R129!.I used this book as background when looking for my own R129 and it really helped out.

This is excellent. It covers the history well and includes a very useful section on issues to look out for with the various models as well as information on the special editions which I have not been able to find elsewhere. As such it is both more useful and more digestible than Brian Long's book, which is more of an uncritical history. The use of English is a bit Germanic but this is a minor detail. Highly recommended.

Having bought my R129 , I was interested in finding out as much information as possible about the car.This excellent book has helped quench my thirst. A thoroughly good read from start to finish, with a lot of interesting bits and pieces that I hadn’t come across anywhere else.Highly recommended to any fan of the delicious Mercedes R129 SL.

Die Papier und Druckqualität ist eher durchschnittlich. Ein hochwertiges "Coffeetabel Book" in Kunstbuchqualität darf man sich bei "Print On Demand" Produktion nicht erwaret, aber dafür überzeugt der Inhalt! Sehr detailreiche Entwicklungs- und Modellgeschichte. Präzise Informationen über Motoren, Getriebe und Ausstattungsvarianten.Mit zahlreichen Daten, Tabellen, Preisentwicklungen und hunderte Fotos ist das Buch eine wahre Fundgrube für den passionierten Fan. This is a highly informative book that reads well and the author offers opinions which I found much more valuable than Taylor’s ‘Factory-Original Mercedes SL’ which I impulsively purchased at the same time. The Taylor book is a comprehensive history of SL’s and is a restatement of Mercedes literature whereas Berne Kohling’s Buyer’s Guide section is more of a working document that offers comparative views of each SL’s strengths and weaknesses and is certainly both an ‘SL500 bible as well as a fun read.‘Having recently purchased a 1998 SL500 through an online auction from what my research indicated wasp a reputable dealer, the book confirmed that having done my homework paid off. I wish I’d had the book beforehand.nichur
