Great tool to use if you love making art, this makes things a whole lot easier since it does all the work for you. I make masks and it cuts through the plastic like butter, but of course, you have to wait for it to heat up first. I would advise you to be cautious with this tool, its dangerously hot and will cause damage to one self or others. But overall, a really useful product.

It uses stainless steel blades which have abysmal thermal conductivity. Essentially, it is a hobby knife that is too hot to do fine work with. It comes with a number of collets. One was not split and one was too long. I happened to have chosen the one that was too long and screwed it in. I thought it had a set screw when it wouldn't seat enough to tighten the blade, but it was the retention screw for the heater. So, I broke it. Bad design or bad quality.I happened to have another soldering iron of identical design. The collets would not tighten without adding two washers...to the correct length screw, or at least the shortest screws. When It heated up, I remembered that stainless steel was a poor conductor. So, bad design over all. Only about 1/8 above the collet was hot enough to melt foam plastic, which has a rather low melting temperature. It melts with hot glue.I would definitely recommend against buying this product.

I bought this to put holes in my crafting bowls to make ornaments etc. This product does get hot and if you are worried about the possibility of burning yourself, (which does happen from time to tome), wear heat gloves. it takes no time to heat up and get your crafting done. make sure you are in a place where you can place this pen in an area to cool off when finished using. I use a mason jar metal top.

I had to order another one of these, but I have to say it was my fault... The description states it is for soft plastic, and I was trying to cut 1/8" acrylic. Thought it would work, but it just bent it trying to cut the acrylic, and when trying to bend it back into shape, the tip broke, and couldn't get the threaded shaft that was left inside - out of the unit. I am ordering another being sure this time to treat this as the delicate tool it is. It is easy to hold, and gets plenty hot enough to cut through thin soft plastic, so am confident that if I keep this in mind, it should work just fine. Just be careful NOT to cut acrylics or similar plastics.

It will engrave, but it does not engrave, on very many items. It worked on soft metals, but for what I needed it for it did not work. I kept it in case I had another project that it might come in handy for

I order this my child. It was shipped very fasted. It worked very well. A lot better than the wood burner that broke very fast. It cut a nice line.
