Get the keypad version. Works every time.
This exact safe has been marketed/sold under many different brands for the past 10 years and that's a good thing. I had another "brand" of this exact model and after 9 years it started hesitating when trying to open it. Not what you want for this type of safe! Got 9 years out of the old one and that's a good run in anyone's book. So, I bought this one hoping it would match up with the old one's mounting bracket and it did. Perfect fit. As others have stated, the mounting hardware it comes with is junk. For mounting to a nightstand, through-bolt the large side of the bracket to the nightstand AND drive four screws through the top part of the bracket into the underside of the nightstand top. Just make sure to use short screws. That's not going anywhere. Also, if you have large hands they will not fit through the opening to secure the safe to the bracket unless you remove the bumper-spring thing (or wait to mount it) at the bottom where the door opens. The number combo version is full proof, unlike fiddly thumbprint readers. I like that you can shut the keypad beeps off. That's really good b/c this thing beeps LOUDLY. It's louder than your microwave when it finishes cooking. Not what you want when trying to quietly access your firearm. With the beeping turned off and fast hand to keep the door from slamming open, you can open this safe almost silently. It's made well, it's reliable and the mounting bracket system is stout, assuming you stoutly mount the bracket. Highly recommended.

safe safe
I’ve been very happy with this handgun safe and, even more so, with the company behind it. My original unit eventually had an issue, and when I contacted customer support, they were responsive, professional, and resolved the problem quickly. They replaced the safe free of charge, no hassle at all. The replacement works perfectly and feels solid, secure, and well-made. It’s clear this company stands behind its product and genuinely cares about customer satisfaction. That kind of service is rare these days. Great product, great company. I would absolutely recommend this safe and would purchase from them again.

1 Star to 5. Super Important Info
Update 2: CHECK BATTERY. I owe this product and company an apology. The safe has a safety feature that will not allow you to set the code if the 9V battery you are using is not super strong. I had a new battery I had used on first one- it allowed me to set the code and blinked all the right lights--- but then gave me a red blink when i entered the code I had set. The 2nd safe had the EXACT same issue. I emailed the company and they said that the blinking code meant the battery was not new. I was super skeptical (as it was a new battery) but I got another new 9V and the 2nd safe worked perfect. So did the first. Apparently the safe will not allow you to set a code unless the battery is in super good health. This is a safety feature to make sure you can access your firearm in an emergency without having to find the key. If you are having this problem (and I know several are) get another new 9V and try it again. Old UPDATE: I had them ship a replacement- exact same issue. They are shipping faulty products. The pin pad does not work and it will not remember a set pin. Really dangerous. Original: I am having exact same issue as multiple others reported. Set the code. It verifies it is set correctly, then doesn’t recognize the code. Not sure if the whole lot is faulty, or they just keep reselling the ones sent back. But super easy to check for this issue prior to shipping, therefore, I dont trust this safe or company. Beware. Sent back and will try different manufacturer.

Trickey setup and install
Instructions leave a little bit to be desired. Numbers on the buttons could be highlighted in white instead of being black like the rest of the button. Button on the inside of the case to be pushed to scan finger prints is almost inaccessible. Recommend you program finger prints before attaching the safe.

Did not work - Door doesn't open
New out of the box, installed brand new batteries, door did not open with default code. Programmed my new code, door still did not open. Needed to use the key to open the door which 100% negates the purpose of the safe. I thought it needed the weight of the pistol for it to drop open so I tried that. Still did not work. I can hear the motor trying to cycle the latch inside but it does not open the door. It does not drop open, and can not manually pull it open after entering the code. Would not trust it in an emergency. Returned this and will go with a different company product.

Easy install
Looks and feels like a quality product. It will work well for the space I plan to install it.

Super fast, reliable, and very sturdy (after a few modifications). Even my wife approves!!!
I bought several models that had features I liked but I sent all the other gun safes back. This is the one I kept. Pros: - This thing responds so fast! - It has a fingerprint reader so even when I'm groggy it works - and FAST! - It has an LED light. - It is skinny and fits just about anywhere. - It uses a 9 volt battery so it will last a long time and won't corrode as much as AAA batteries. - It has a battery life indicator. - In addition to the fingerprint reader it also has a buttons you can program as well as a key. - It has a mute capability for pressing the buttons or using the fingerprint scanner. - It is very reliable - just record your fingers many times. - It stores LOTS of fingerprints! Cons: - Are there any cons with this safe? Well, there are a few but they all were quickly overcome with fairly simple modifications. - The bracket it comes with is flimsy, it adds some thickness to the installation, and it has this strange piece that sticks out on top. But I used the drill press to drill some new holes through both sides of the frame and I direct-mounted it to the back of my nightstand without the bracket. Slick huh? Nobody will ever see it there and it is so skinny without the bracket. Now it's super sturdy too! - At first it didn't recognize my fingerprint consistently and I realized I was putting my finger on slightly different sometimes. Solution - just record my fingerprint (and my wife's fingerprint) as many times as I want to from lots of different angles. This thing holds something like 140 fingerprints! - Even though it has a mute feature it still makes a distinct noise when opening - but all the other models made that same noise too. Only one model was quieter but it used AAA batteries, didn't have an LED light, and only stored 15 fingerprints. - Older versions of this gunsafe had an issue where new fingerprints could be added even though it was still closed so don't buy a used one unless you are okay with that glitch. That isn't a huge deal in most cases since this type of gun safe is intended to be hidden away to begin with. Now my wife has approved another one of these safes to go in a closet near the front door and I am going to buy the same model! That is no small statement - she had never used a gun before we got married and she was initially very unsupportive of any guns being stored outside of the big expensive gun safe. But that big gun safe is for keeping guns that I can get to when I have time to go get them and load them. This one is for keeping a handgun locked and loaded - ready for action in an emergency! Insert a full magazine, rack one bullet into the chamber then eject the magazine and push in a bullet to replace the one that's in the chamber, then re-insert that magazine and store the handgun in this awesome little safe ready to use at a moment's notice!

Fits my Glock 22 well. Install was easy, took maybe 20 minutes. Have this set up on my dresser next to my bed. Setting a code is simple and self explanatory. Directions are easy to follow. I don’t use the fingerprint feature, just the code. I keep the keys locked away in my safe. When you open this with the code, the latch will drop giving you access to your firearm. There is a light that illuminates that I find very useful during the night. Isn’t too bright. My only “issues” are: 1- when I remove my Glock, the “foam” protective layer comes out with it so I have to brush it off every time. 2- it’s pretty noisy. If there were ever a situation where someone would need to get to their firearm, I feel like the noise of you putting in the code would give away what you’re doing if someone knew those sounds. And this isn’t just the code, if you go to scan your fingerprint and it doesn’t register, it makes the same noise. In the middle of the night this would be very easy to hear and could be dangerous. Overall, we’ll made, not that expensive, easy to use, reliable so far. It’s a good size but not too big that takes up much space.
