Great feeder but one major flaw
I have a few bird feeders the local squirrels were terrorizing so I squirrel proofed them and purchased this feeder just for them. It's a fantastic feeder, well made and easy to mount and fill. The only issue I have is that I've owned it about a week and the squirrels have already gnawed off 1/3 of the platform apparently trying to get to the food more easily. Luckily it's a fairly cheap feeder but I really don't want to replace it monthly.

Well made - our birds love it!
We have this beautiful feeder in our trees and the blue jays love it! We have filled it with shelled nuts and sunflower seeds and it is the most popular feeder we have at our acreage. It is very sturdy, and well made - easy to adjust and very easy to install. We will be purchasing more for throughout the property.

Great quality
Wonderful construction. Great attention to detail. Amish made, and the quality shows. The only change we are making is adding two pieces of wood on the sides of feeding platform to prevent the food from spilling out. Otherwise, it's perfect and looks great!

Wonderful squirrel feeder
First, it shipped to me very quickly. It arrived late in the day yesterday but I put it out before dark so the squirrels would find it first thing in the morning. I haven't had a squirrel feeder before now and the birds were getting all the peanuts and any out of the shell nuts I threw out on the ground so I bought walnuts and hazelnuts in the shell especially for the squirrels but they're an expensive way to feed the squirrels. However, it is a very good way to introduce them to a feeder. I filled the feeder to overflowing with nuts in the shell so the feeder lid was open and placed the feeder on the ground where they are used to feeding. The first squirrel on the scene found easy access to the nuts and he could feel the lid moving up and down. By the time the nuts were gone off the top and the lid was all the way down he was used to the lid and was quickly lifting it and filling his plump little belly with nuts. He in turn is teaching the other squirrels to use it by his example. Tomorrow I will fill it with a nut and seed mix which is less expensive and I will still feed him nuts in the shell during the summer but only a couple of handfuls as a special treat. This is a wonderful feeder and the squirrels are more than smart enough to use it properly - you just have to give them a little help at the beginning - make sure the lid is propped open at the very beginning with nuts.I very highly recommend this feeder. It is plexiglass in the front and all the rest is cedar. It is very well made and it should last for many years as long as you give the squirrels a proper chance at using it.And I had a great chuckle over the efforts the crows and magpies made to try to get at the nuts. They saw the squirrels feeding and they thought they should get in on the action (even though they haven't been able to eat these nuts in the shell). They pecked HARD at the plexiglass which they couldn't break and checked it out from the top, back and sides and couldn't get in. Some of the birds were quite persistent about it but finally all of them had to give up and the squirrels finally have their own wonderful feeder.

Attractivre
Appears nice; Utility is for feeding squirrels whilst keeping rock doves (pigeons) out.
