Perfect Adapter for Old iPod Nano
I have an old iPod nano with a frayed 30-pin to USB-A cable, which I have now discarded. This handy lightning to 30-pin adapter enables me to connect my short, 6" USB-A to lightning cable to the back of the adapter. In turn, I plug the lighting to USB-A cable into the USB-A port on the Pioneer radio in my truck. This works. The music on the nano pipes through the radio speakers and sounds great. I am able to control all my nano music app playlists from my Pioneer. I believe (but have not verified) that the nano also charges while thus piping the music. (Note that lightning headphones will NOT work when plugged into the adapter. You will still need to use headphones with a round 3.5mm aux pin when listening directly from the nano.) I now leave the 30-pin to lightning cable permanently plugged into the nano. This enables me to use my vast array of lightning cables to charge the nano without the need for a separate, dedicated 30-pin cable. In short, this is a highly versatile and useful little adapter. I strongly recommend it.

Didn't work for what I needed it for

Works as intended
I’ve been able to charge and data transfer on several of my old iPads and iPods with no problems.Aside from this not “clicking” in when inserted, it works very well for the price, very convenient having one wire for everything.

Works great!
I thought I couldn’t charge my old Ipod since the cables are hard to find. This adapter was perfect since the same cable that charges my phone can now charge my Ipod!

High failure rate
The plastic is a little brittle, but the plugs are properly formed and easy to use. The big problem though is quality control - they have a high failure rate, right out of the package. If you feel like it, you can play product return roulette until you get one that works, but I wouldn't advise it.With decent quality control, this would be a GREAT item for older Apple devices, but with the poor quality control I'd have to recommend against it.

It worked
Amazing adapter for Ancient Apple products. A little tough to get in on the first few uses. Worked like a charm

Technically operable but not forward compatible
The adapter technically works when connecting with a lightning to USB-A cable but it's not compatible with a lightning to USB-C cable that is used by newer Macs. The newer Macs only have USB-C / Thunderbolt ports which means that you'll need an adapter or hub to plug in the older USB-A to lightning cables. This adapter does not fully insert into Apple devices such as the older iPods and iPhone 4. It still works but there is a sliver of the metal part that sticks out from the device. Same issue with the lightning port. The lightning jack shows a little part of metal and does not fully insert. A product of this quality would never have passed Apple's quality check. The description on this product includes "MFi Certified" which is a false claim. The adapter does what I need it to do but I'm not going to leave it plugged in longer than necessary.
