YUMMERS! What a delightful, useful and informative work this one is.
I must tell you right here at the start that I am not, nor have I ever been a big fan of Tater Tots...per se. I like most potato dishes and have even been known to eat the things raw, but tater tots in general; well they just have never been that appealing to me.The exception to this is when they are presented as part of a casserole dish. Between church suppers, family gatherings and trying to feed four very large and healthy grandsons on a regular basis, I most certainly have been exposed to my share of these casseroles. Some of these concoctions have been great and I enjoyed every bite. Some have been merely "fillers" to quite a hungry stomach and others have been pig fodder as far as I am concerned...alas, the pigs will each almost anything. I will also tell you right up front that I did not find a "filler" or a "pig fodder" recipe in this entire book....amazing!Anyway, I ordered this little recipe book up and I can tell you that the entire book is an absolute delight. I had no idea that so many wonderful dishes could be made from tots....good grief. Almost all these recipes include elements that I love. I mean how can I turn my nose up at bacon, asparagus, broccoli, turkey, chili cheese, fish sticks, ham and on and on and on?There are 42 recipes in this book with six desert recipes thrown in to boot. All recipes are extremely easy to follow and the author has designed the book to interact with the index perfectly. This saves a lot of time. I order a lot of these e-book recipe books and it drives me up a wall if I have to flip through the entire book just to find one recipe...no problems with this one.The author uses a laid back mode of writing and is actually quite funny at times making the book a fun read as well as useful and informative. The author has included a very nice little section on some great tips for preparing casseroles which I found to be quite helpfulI have always done a lot of cooking in our home and now that I am retired I do even more. For me the most difficult part of cooking is to figure out WHAT to cook! This great little book will add much to my arsenal. That being said, I am going to have my wife add this one to her Kindle also.Don BlankenshipThe Ozarks

Imagination and Wit to a Classic American Dish
Confession, cooking for my family is not the easiest endeavor. We're a three generational home with several varied pallets that are not the easiest to satisfy simultaneously. If you're remotely in the same situation as myself then this cookbook is a Godsend.Who knew that you could do so much with the tater tot (or as the author called tater baby in one of her many amusing nicknames for the delectable spud.) I picked up this book last week in a fit of desperation when dinner time loomed. Let me tell you that it was an instant success with my family. We tried the shepherd's tater tot recipe and everyone had seconds. Even my picky eleven year old. I was beginning to think he wouldn't eat anything but chicken nuggets and pizza for the foreseeable future. The next morning we had the breakfast tater tot dish and it was the same story again....empty plates and happy bellies.I'm telling you that this book satisfies everyone from the picky French fry only eater kid, to the unrepentant meat and potatoes dieter. This book is perfect for the untrained in the culinary arts such as myself. The simple instructions definitely help me with making my grocery lists. Plus Ms McLoughlin's wit at explaining her recipes can't help to make me smile. My only really complaint is that I really wish there were pictures to accompany these tasty treats. Also the recipe for heavenly sinful bar is missing. Which is a shame because the name is so enticing.Overall a useful cookbook and for a price that can not be beat.

Easy, Delicious & Economical
Love quick, easy and economical recipes? The Tater Tot Casserole Cookbook by Kerrie Mclaughlin is the right book for you. My husband loves cheese, tater tots, ground beef etc. My grandchildren both love those ingredients as well, so when I make the casserole, it is always a hit. The Tater Tot Casserole Cookbook by Kerrie Mclaughlin finds many inventive ways to change up the standard casserole. Her recipes are easy to follow and include many variations as well as using other meats and seafood. She has a gluten free recipe as well as vegetarian options even a breakfast casserole. The book has over forty recipes and as a bonus, dessert recipes. Who doesn’t love that? I downloaded the Tater Tot Casserole Cookbook to my Kindle. As with most Kindle books there are not any pictures. The book is also available in paperback. The author has five children which I am sure has given her rise to many of the recipes. Due to the amount that each casserole makes, if it is just my husband and myself, I cut the recipe in half otherwise we will be eating leftovers for days. The recipes are clear and very easy to follow. I feel it would be a great book for your kids to use to make dishes that they would enjoy and find pride in feeding the family. On a personal note, I do use lower sodium soups, low-fat milk and 2% cheese to help cut down on the calories and sodium. Great book, great writing style with a lot of her personal humor.

Simple recipes, not all with tater tots
The media could not be loaded. This is a video sharing the basic features of The Tater Tot Casserole Cookbook. The recipes are simple to make, with most making enough to fill 9x13" pans. Although Kerrie does mention the recipes can be cut in half, which is true for most of them anyway.A surprise was that about 10 recipes are for desserts (they don't include tater tots). I was expecting 40 tater tot recipes, but I guess 'yummy' recipes don't have to be tater tot recipes even in a tater tot cookbook. There are no photos in the book, however that is common with many Kindle cookbooks. The book was co-authored (given credit in About the Authors, but not on the cover page) by a 15 year old family friend. I liked that, and it reminded me while reviewing that the cookbook could be used and recipes enjoyed by the whole family.

Once translated from the American an interesting book
I was emailed and asked if I would review this book, it was free at the time. As I was intrigued by the title I downloaded it and was even more confused. About 90% of the recipes included to me a mystery ingredient "frozen tater babies". I emailed Kerrie McLoughlin and found out that they were a type of frozen hash brown. So as we had some Birds Eye hash brown waffles in the freezer we used them. I have no idea if the final result tasted anything like intended but it produced a hearty tasty meal although I do not claim it was the healthiest of meals. We made "Bacon Swiss" but exchanged the "ground beef" for minced Turkey. Ingredients included:-1 can of evaporated milk;2 cans of cream of mushroom soup;10 slices of Swiss cheese (we used a cheap Tesco sliced cheese); And of course 2 pounds of "frozen tater babies" (we used the waffles) Although there are no illustrations in the book all of the recipes were clearly laid out with all of the ingredients listed in the order used which made getting everything ready very easy.As it is definitely an American book, little problem for us that have not gone metric, some of the ingredients need more translation for example I have not found an equivalent to "cheddar cheese soup".There are also some rich puddings but we have not tried any of these but if you are not trying to count calories they read well (and they don't use "frozen tater babies")I don't think I will make any more recipes from this book but if it is the sort of thing you want as cheap filling meals and not care about the calories it is an excellent book.
