After mixing solution make sure you let it cool before adding the unicorn in to the mixture
My daughter received one as a gift, and it broke after some time of having it and she was was upset so we ordered one to do as a rainy weekend project. I misread the instructions and mixed the solution and put it right in the container.. ( which took alot to find one that fit it fine) the crystals did not form.. I ordered another one as i figured that was my mistake.. this time waited the 2 hours and then put the unicorn in and let it sit for the 24 hours and it turned out great like our first one. She got it painted and was worth everything to see her smile. We even used the left over paint and i water colored her hand.. ( washed off in the shower) Great family time!

Don't put it in the water till later!
My husband was helping our daughter with the instructions. He read them and stuck the unicorn into the freshly boiled water immediately, instead of waiting the half hour.Nothing happened to the unicorn, but I did notice the mistake within 30 seconds of that happening.Adding water will not lighten the dyes. Just in case someone wants to do that, it doesn't work like water colors. Also, the instructions call orange "light red". It's orange haha.The crystals formed AMAZINGLY. My daughter left it in overnight, and took it out the next morning/afternoon at about 5pm maybe? So not quite a full 24 hours in the water, but close.

Unicorn Crystal growing kit; took returning one dud kit, but 2nd kit worked beautifully!!
The first Unicorn Crystal kit DID NOT work.... followed instructions to the letter...no crystals formed. Packed it up & returned (Free per Prime membership) and was sent another kit which worked as expected! Granddaughter (6yr) Christmas gift and she enjoyed it very much!

Daughter loves it
My daughter absolutely loved this unicorn. After reading reviews, I didn’t expect any crystals to form, especially since it is awkwardly shaped and would need a lot more solution in any bowl/Tupperware I have to be fully submerged. I had to lay it on it’s side but overnight the one side looks amazing! The dye wasn’t quite what I would’ve liked but my 4 year old LOVES it. Maybe the company will consider adding a container to special fit the unicorn and solution to make it turn out better.
