Yes, the edges will crack and crumble if you pull the mold too early.

Q: can i use any kind of cement?

I just used regular cheap cement, they are sturdy molds

Q: Can this mold be used with resin instead of concrete?

I would call the company and ask them. It's made for concrete. Once the concrete cures, it will pop out of the mold. I don't know how resin works. Wouldn't it adhere to the mold?
