This filter uses very similar filtration media to the Purolator PureONE (i.e. it "cleans" the oil very well), but it has a lot more of it. This reduces restriction to flow and also allows the increased OCI distance. It is not a full synthetic filter media though, rather a cellulose/synth fiber blend. I have used it up to 12k but the filter media began to collapse at that point, though it was still in tact, with no leaks. I would call this a 6k mile to 10k mile filter using synthetic oil in a clean engine. It slots above the PureONE, which I would only characterize as a 6k-8k filter using synthetic oil in a clean engine. The PureONE just has fewer pleats of substantially the same media...it's the laws of physics folks (you can only bend them so far). If you want your engine to remain clean and running smooth, buy the Bosch D+ with confidence. The oil in my 07 Cobalt 2.2L ecotech was still translucent yellow (but getting darkish) at 6.5k miles into the OCI. No other filter aside from the Purolator Synthetic (an outstanding filter!) has kept the oil this clean. I have had the PureONE collapse completely (i.e. the filter pleats are smashed/twisted so much that they no longer are recognizable) on a 10k OCI. I won't push it that far again. Also, the oil at that point was VERY dirty....I suspect the filter became so clogged that it went into bypass mode (where the pressure bypass valve was triggered due to restricted flow) and stopped filtering altogether at that point. Still, the Bosch D+ is a great filter and is probably the best non-full-synthetic filter media on the market. I would say that Mobil-1 (also a synth/cellulose blend) is very close behind with the PureONE further behind but still offering top quality filtration. Oh, the Bosch "premium" filter is identical tot he PureONE. I.e. they are made on the same assembly line, use the same filter media, same filter body, have the same markings/stampings, same construction. Just FYI. More great info at Bob is the oil guy dot com (web forum and informational site; they don't sell anything).

Throw down the extra cash 'cause the difference is in the numbers. These really do hold loads more junk than - probably - any other brand filter that will fit my 07 Toyota. I use synthetic oil (change myself - costs little more than traditional at a shop) and I like to go a bit past the manufactures suggestion, so this helps me feel a little less irresponsible. BTW: if you've got an opinion about oils and filters and the frequency of changes or significance or synthetic stay away from the Amazon.Com discussions for oil - they'll just mix you up. Suddenly, things you took for granted will start morphing all around you until you wont know which way's up anymore. JK

Using this in my older Jeep Wrangler, and I noticed that the oil pressure is instant at start up, and stays in the high range of normal and does not fluctuate like all of the other oil filters I have used. I thought this was odd so I switched back to a standard filter at the next change and the effect was immediately obvious. The standard cheepo (NAME DELETED) filter took 30 sec to build pressure to norm, and fluctuated a lot. The motor was noticeably louder than it was when I had the Bosch D3402 Distance Plus High Performance Oil Filter in place. I switched back and my beast is much happier. Also the filter maintains the pressure through out the duration of the oil change cycle. I guess the extra capacity equals better flow, and filtration and is worth the bucks in my book. If I can squeeze another 200K out of this motor I will be thrilled. The Secret to long life of a Vehicle?? Drive it like you stole it, and NEVER EVER miss an oil change. And while your at it dump all your fluids . You know like Tranny fluid, rear end lube, radiator fluid, power steering fluid, brake fluid. I do it every two years and my Jeep runs like it is fresh out o Da wrapper. Do not forget your Air filter either. Just take care of it and it will take care of you.

Fits a 2000 Chevy Express 1500 5.7L van. (350 small block) Synthetic filter media for: better flow, durability and a greater dirt holding capacity. Compatible with all mineral and synthetic oils. Stronger case for better durability. Silicone anti-flowback valve. For me this is the best engine oil filter at a good price.
