Fantastic little lantern
This lantern is perfect for power outages. It can be manually charged, solar charged, or plug in w/C cable. It says you can charge your phone, iPad, etc with it. So far I’ve only charged it with a cable…but it works and provides good light.

The best item to have in a blackout.
Lets face it, everyone of some reasonable years & maturity, has had more than their fill of power failures. Me especially since I live on a mountain top farm & as far from the nearest power station as I am removed from civilization. That being said, because I am living on the edge of the wilderness in a rural community with my nearest neighbor living about half a mile from my front door & my mailbox is about two thirds of a mile away, you can imagine what its like having all those miles of line traveling up the mountainside far from the roads in some of the worst hard-to-reach places. Mind you, I've been meaning to add solar & wind with a ton of power storage batteries but I still haven't saved up the amount of money required to pull the trigger on such big project. So, for now, until that time, I have to settle for these wonderful little battery powered lanterns with the hand-crank on the bottom & the USB charger port so if I am feeling a little lazy, instead of cranking the handle, I could simply plug them into an outlet to charge them when I still have the power running to my house. As for the solar panel on the top, I have never tried to actually use it but the irony of that little panel is as I believe to still be of some use. You see, I have them all placed in various areas that are important to me. One example is the bathroom where I have one standing upright on the top of a shelf. So, whenever I or my house mate use the bathroom & we turn on the light, that little panel on top will slowly charge the battery & you can just imagine how often that the bathroom light is turned on since we don't have any windows in the bathroom to let light in. So, in a indirect way, while the bathroom light doesn't really charge up on of these units, it does slow the power loss of the battery which is nice but it still has to be occasionally hand cranked & sometimes it can take a while before the indicator light changes from red to green. But for me, that's okay... Mind you, at first, I had bought two of these a while ago & they so handily came to the rescue at night every time when the power went on the blink. I was actually so impressed with the performance of these lanterns that I felt that two weren't enough to light the way into the kitchen or the bathroom. So, I recently bought two more & I might even buy another two later on if I feel the need because these lanterns are very bright & if spread throughout my living space, when the power goes out, I won't end up sitting in the dark. Basically, to me, these are a crucial item to have in a blackout because the hand crank can keep these units powered up as long as a person is willing to sit there cranking for certain amount of time just to make sure that they won't have to do it for a while just to keep from sitting in the dark. So, yes, you me, they are worth the price per unit because of how well that they work.

So far, OK but I need to try solar input and phone charging output
What I like: lightweight (and reasonably sturdy for as lightweight as this is), compact (love that it is partially collapsible), metal handles make it easy to carry and allow hanging up where needed, color (lime green is easy to locate), handcrank (great in a pinch if I forget to charge before power goes out and no sun available), level of brightness is good. What I do NOT like: Amazon description says type C input for charger - I bought 2 of these: one has USB-C and one has micro USB. Why two different charging inputs on two different devices that are supposed to be the SAME model?? Well at least they each came with the proper cable type for the input type. But they are not interchangeable and I am trying to migrate to USB-C so I do NOT like that one of these is not USB-C as the description says it is supposed to be. Handcrank moves in front of the flashlight - I guess that is minor but annoying if I want to use the flashlight while I am charging via handcrank. Lots of reviews say the solar panel charging and phone charging output do not work well. Also I don't know how long the battery will last with light on or while charging phone. I have not tried those yet so I will try to update my review after I try those.

Good light. Great customer support.
I purchased a Mesqool CL1000 light on May 27, 2025 and used it once without any issues. It is a nice bright light and all of the features worked just fine. The second time I tried to use it the output ports were dead. I emailed their customer support on July 12, 2025 and Cathrine contacted me the next day. She arranged for me to get a replacement light and kept me informed of the progress in getting me a new light. The new light arrived on July 17, 2025 and Cathrine followed up to see how it was working. The new light worked very well. The fact that the first product failed is not really an issue with me, but how promptly a vendor fixes it is. Cathrine did an excellent job in taking care of my issues to my complete satisfaction. I would recommend them to anyone.

Nice little lantern
Oct 2022: Really light weight, and I've had it going for more than 8 hours without dimming or needing to recharge. I haven't tried to charge anything else with the lantern itself, but it seems capable to at least put a partial charge in an emergency. The dynamo isn't really loud while cranking like some of my older crank up devices have been, and the flashlight on the bottom of the unit is fairly bright. I think it's a keeper especially if you go camping or just sitting out on your patio in the evening. UPDATE May 2024: I've been using this lantern nearly every day for almost 2 years. Its been outside in the elements the whole time. Just now the batteries are losing capacity, and its been charged countless times when it ran down. Great little lantern, Not super bright, but it does the job. If you didn't have a charger nearby, cranking for a minute will give you approximately 10 minutes of light if it was drained. The solar panel on top is a little weak, it took all day to get about half battery (in Arizona). Definitely a rugged option for camping or emergency situations. Good, durable product.

Worked fine, usb power feature is weak.
I used this summer while camping, the batt. last fine as I used a few time 2-3 hrs and it still had life. The crank feature seems to work but I didn't test long term. The usb charge feature(plug) only charged my iphone 6 about 19-53%, but it did at least charge it a bit, conpared to others I had like this that didn't charge at all. The lamp was not as bright as others I had and one the carrying handles broke off several times and I had to put back together. Still a good lil' item, good bang for buck, pretty bright for its size. I'd give 4 stars if handle didn't fall off several times as quality seems fine besides that. So just buyers beware on that.

Easy, sturdy, light, and bright
Loved this lantern so much. We used it to camp with a group that contained 4 kids (pre-school and elementary school ages) and they all knew how to use it well. They could turn it on, off, and locate it easily in our pile of camping gear. Very impressed. It's also light enough to hang in the middle of the tent. At full blast, it's like the sun. So bright. But, I also used it next to the sleeping mats to read a little and it was great for that too. I'm impressed that it's light, but sturdy enough to stand while 4 kids bounced around our tent. I'm also impressed that the battery lasts for so long and the brightness never seems to change. I also like that it's easy to change the brightness (the up-and-down sliding mechanism is very smooth to maneuver). The only issue is that the USB charging unit is not as advertised. It didn't let me charge my iPhone for more than 30 minutes (only like 20% battery). But, I haven't investigated further whether it's the wire or my old iPhone 11 or the new OS update that stopped it from charging further; so I'm reserving judgment on this feature. Overall, a great find. The battery lasted us 3 days without having to re-charge. In fact, it's been over 2 months and I still haven't charged it (and it still shines brightly).
