Fan Speed Controller

Recommend. Simple solution.

This is not a fan speed control unit it is a light dimmer switch in a fan control case I have 15 years of electrical experience so know what i am going on about .DONT BUY THIS PRODUCT !!!

I got this for an extractor fan so i could run on a lower level, as soon as you turn it down, it buzzes like crazy. Even after fiddling for 15 minutes. Managed to turn down barely 5% before buzzing started. Crap product, returned.

I purchased this controller on the 12/08/2018 via Amazon, simple to use, plug into socket then plug your device into the controller. In my case it's an in-line fan. There's a lot of comments about hum but I found by tweaking in small increments you can identify the ideal level (listening) & another small tweak eliminates the hum, this worked for me anyway. I found that the fan was running at 40% (approx) which surely means a saving of electricity costs?? The unit is well manufactured & at under £10 is excellent VFM.

I think most of the complaints about this regards the slight buzzing it makes when turned down too low. I imagine on lower powered devices this must be pretty frustrating as you can't turn the power down much. I have a huge fan which I can turn down quite significantly before the buzzing occurs, which in my eyes (ears) isn't that bad.If you want to run your fan, or whatever, as low as possible... try turning it back up to full and slowly turning it down to the point where it makes the buzzing and put a mark on the dial at the lowest power you can put it on. Saves fiddling with it all the time.

Does what it is meant to do. Feels a bit cheap however the price is low, no problems so far.
