Great price, great system, simple solution!
We purchased our new, last, forever home recently and we loved everything about it, except the water smelled horrible. We have always preferred well water, but we didn't remember the water smelling this bad when we inspected the home prior to closing. We tried the activated charcoal shower head filters, but they did very little, if anything and I was beginning to think this was never going to be mitigated. We looked at every method out there and this system looked like the best option, if it would work. The filter changing method is by far the best available, so we settled on the Aqua-Pure. I installed it with CPVC and added added a spin down sediment filter in front. It took about 3 hours to plumb. After finishing late that evening, we checked the shower for smell and it was still there, but not as bad. By the next day it was completely gone and has been that way since. We had to cycle all of the old water out of the water heater before the smell would subside. We have had clean, odor free water for a month now and I can't say enough good things about this product. We'll see how long the filter lasts, but I'm hopefully optimistic that we can get 6 months to a year before a change. Great price, great system, simple solution. Update: 2 1/2 months later and our water is still odorless. I see some low ratings for this product and I believe the premature filter changes are due to not using a sediment filter in front of the AquaPure system. I use a 50 micron spin down filter in front and I have to backwash weekly and swap the reusable filter monthly due to sediment buildup. If I didn't have the spin down in front, I would probably have plugged up the AquaPure by now. 3M CLEARLY RECOMMENDS using a sediment filter in front and I believe I will get the maximum longevity from the AquaPure as a result. When my spin down filter is clean, I have maximum water pressure from my well. Update - August 15th, 2021: We have now been using this filter for 5 months and we have learned much about our well. Our well is 480'+ deep and only has a flow rate of 3gpm. Our previous home had a well not as deep but it had better water flow. We found out the hard way that you can't run a slip and slide for the grandkids without putting a strain on the well. When it gets overused, we see a lot of algae show up in our spin down filter, that is in front of our AquaPure filter. The algae clogs the spin down filter, which is a 50 micron filter, so we have to backwash it multiple times daily to restore optimal water pressure in our home. Our water without filtering is extremely smelly, like bad eggs, but the Aquapure filter removes 100% of the odor. I have seen a lot of people complain that the filter doesn't last long, but I am convinced that is because those individuals didn't use a prefilter on their system. The directions strongly recommend having a pre-filter in front of the Aquapure and I suggest a 50 micron spin down, because we have been going strong for 5 months with our Aquapure and I am amazed it is able to remove every bit of the odor. I believe we will get close to 12 months use from it. I am very pleased with our iSpring 50 micron spin down filter, as well. I will update when it becomes necessary to change the AquaPure. I would give it 6 stars if possible. One additional note. The AP917HD-S, AP917HD and AP910R all are interchangeable with the AquaPure quick change system. I purchased replacement filters, so I would have them when I needed a replacement. I tried the AP910R, because it still says in the description that it had activated carbon filter, but that is not true. The AP910R DOES NOT contain any activated carbon, whereas the AP917HD-S & AP917HD do. The AP910R did not remove any odor from my water, so don't make the same mistake and buy the AP902 system or AP910R replacement filter if you are trying to remove bad odor from your water.

Improves taste, smell significantly and "softens" water adequately.
I own this and got it installed about 3 weeks ago. I have city water. I did testing beforehand and saw that my tap water was high in alkalinity and calcium. I had a plumber install the full version of this filter that includes the descaler. Plumber had to cut open a hole in my townhouse garage wall. $1,400 for plumber. Great result though with very nice looking piping, very discreet and right up against the wall. The water was immediately noticeably better, after a 5-10 minute flush of the filter. Even though it is just a water conditioner/descaler rather than a softener, it has a significant softening effect. The chrome and glass in my bathrooms have already improved a lot in just a few weeks. I would say the water smells, tastes, and feels 80% better. Super easy to change the filter, so no reason this won't work perfectly for 20+ years. They could possibly even upgrade the replacement filter cartridge design in the future. It did reduce my water pressure 5-10%, not enough to care, but that was probably partially due to the loop in piping my plumber had to make. It does seem like the water pressure has improved a little recently though, so it is possible the descaler has helped increase the diameter of the piping throughout the house by loosening up some of the lime buildup in the pipes. It is most noticeable when just washing your hands. The water has a slightly slippery feel like a water softener, although only about half as slippery. I think water any softer feeling than this would be overkill. My plumber said that his company usually rebrands a nearly identical water filter to this and charges over $1,100 for it, so this is a great deal comparatively. Hard to imagine really needing more filtration or softening than this. I wouldn't waste the water pressure or time or money on a prefilter for this if you have city water; just replace the filter every so often. Over the years, it probably pays for itself at least halfway due to the increased life you get from your water heater, dishwasher, clothes washer, toilets, faucets, and fridge. I rate the overall effect and quality of this product a 9 out of 10. I still use a Brita for my drinking water because I didn't want to just throw it out, and it seems like this filtered water going into your Brita makes your Brita filters last way longer if you still want to use that.

Heavy duty and best fit
The 3M Aqua Pure whole house water filter is a well-regarded option, particularly for those living in urban areas with municipal water supplies. It is recognized for its ability to filter out chlorine, improve water taste and odor, and remove larger particulates like sand, dirt, and rust. However, it's not as effective for households with more severe water contamination, such as well water with heavy sediment or other harmful pollutants. Key highlights include: While installation can be DIY for those with basic plumbing skills, it may require professional help due to the absence of some key components like bypass valves and connectors, which need to be purchased separately. The system’s design includes a stainless-steel head for durability and an easy-to-use Sanitary Quick Change feature, which simplifies filter replacement. The system is easy to maintain with the Sanitary Quick Change design, allowing for tool-free cartridge replacement. In summary, the 3M Aqua Pure is a solid choice for improving water quality in urban households using municipal water, but it may require additional filtration solutions for homes with more significant water contamination issues.

Best filter I’ve found for well water with silt
3M products are the best. We’ve had a crack in the in our deep well casing causing red silt to get into the water. We’ve tried paper filters and whole house filter with back flushing and nothing worked that long. Changing out paper filters was tedious since there were 4 inline. Every month they had to be changed and got water everywhere. This filtration system works very well, keeps the silt out, just clean water. No water spills when replacing the filter, just unlock, twist and put a new filter back on. For us, it’s lasts 6 months but it’s worth it. Paper filters aren’t that cheap either so the cost balances out over time. I recommend to anyone especially if you have silt in your well water. Everything 3M makes is top notch, use their filter, not a cheaper substitute.

Great quality, great flow, great chlorine reduction but no hardness reduction
I like the ease of filter changes and the quality of construction being all metal head and solid cartridge that has a confident feel to it. No risk of over-tightening and causing leaks etc. Water flow in my condo is completely unaffected by this unit which is good. Pressure was 50psi before and 50 psi after installation post-filter even with faucets running so that is great, lots of flow. Chlorine reduction is good, water tastes filtered with no odors or chlorine smell. Regarding scale/hardness reduction however I do not believe this filter is providing a reduction in hardness since I tested before and after with a lab-grade hardness titration kit and the water hardness remains the same. No reduction in hardness according to the test kit.

Working good so far with **update**.
So far so good. I purchased this to cut down on the chlorine in the shower. We would constantly get burning eyes and then go into an endless bought of sneezing. Now it's night and day, we are able to have comfortable no chlorine smell showers. I will update if filter life does not live up to it's promise. Two months post install. Going strong. Had to change out the clear housing with a blue one for the pre-filter as algae was growing on the filter media. I did a test on the water quality and posted it to amazon for anyone wondering how the water quality is doing. I will continue to do the quality tests and see how long the filter is truly good for and post updates. ******* Update********* Okay so its been 5 months. I test my water regularly with professional equipment. My normal average water chloramine level is 3.95 and this has been doing a pretty good job at taking almost all of it out. However this is now climbing and is now only filtering about 75% of the chloramine out of the water so I am going to replace the filter with a new AP910R. I know this has a stated length of 1 year but again my chloramine level is a bit high and we have a family of 4 with 2 little ones that can take some time in the shower. It does not help that we have an instant hot water heater that prolongs that use as well as a RO system in the house that burns thru a lot of water. Will all that said I added up all the water we had used and we have used approx 25,000 gallons. I imagine without excessive use of the water we could get 8 months out of the system but as it stands with the pre-filter we are looking at $454 dollars a year to change out with new pre-filter and this filter together once the system looses 25% efficiency every 5 months. Update 11/10/21 We stopped using the 3m brand filters and now use American Filter Company and they have lasted an entire year. I am not sure if they are just using more carbon or what but they have been fantastic and in a 3 pack cost 90 dollars a filter. This has been by far a better filter and has been no issues attaching it.

Awesome water filter, awesome price.
So far so excellent. I installed a HUGE system on my condo in the city about 14 years ago and love it, but it was far to big for the space I have at my home in the burbs. After tons of research, I came to this, the Aqua-Pure AP903 and hoped it would be as great as everyone said it would be. It installed in about 5 hours, that was with time to buy all of the parts and we had a crazy small spot to put it, so it was way more complicated than the average install. We got it going without any leaks and after flushing the first 10 gallons through or so, I was in heaven. I would actually drive into the city just to shower when we moved to the burbs. I had forgotten how Chicago water is the best filtered, but it is LOADED with chlorine. Everytime I turned on the shower, it was like jumping into the public pool. Now, mind you, I was in my condo for 13 years with a whole house water purification system and was spoiled rotten from it. Our skin was itchy and dry and I hated it. All the proof I needed was when my husband came out of his first shower and said it was the best shower he took in over a year, that was when we permanently moved to the burbs. This from the guy who thought I was over reacting to the chlorine and thought the water purifier was excessive, lol.. We are both very happy and no longer dry and the drives into the city just for showers are over! Now, to see how the filter holds up. I did see people complaining of it not lasting a full year. There are only 2 of us here and I am saving my water bills. I also installed 2 water pressure gauges, one before and one after the system so I can physically see when I am starting to lose pressure. With Chicago having the best water filtration system in the country, at least (i think it is the world) I have high expectations that it should last the 12 months without any issues. I will do an update for sure.

LEAKED BIG TIME!
Started leaking very little, one week after installation causing scale on it. A month ago the leak became larger and I had to by pass. I bought new filter and now trying to buy a replacement for the housing ONLY but can NOT find a way to do that.!!
