This book deserves every one of the 5 stars. If 6 were possible I would mark 6. Tune it out is SO real and poignant. You live in Lou’s world as you read the book and don’t want to come out until it’s done. Jamie is a master story teller. Her first book Roll With It won all kinds of awards. Tune It Out knocks it out of the park. I seriously cannot say enough about how good it is. It’s a book you want in your kids hands, one they will want to read, and one you will want to read to.

I’m a 4th grade teacher and I read this book because it is on our state book award list this year. It was by far my favorite book from the list! The author did an amazing job of describing how Lou felt when she was overwhelmed by circumstances around her. I believe many of our students feel the same way so they will be able to connect with her. Other students will benefit from reading it because it will help them empathize with students who have similar struggles to Lou.

Just finished reading Tune It Out, by Jamie Sumner and I am a huge fan. This was a heartfelt story about a middle school girl with a beautiful voice, a tough home life and a sensory processing disorder. She is forced to move in with her aunt and uncle in Nashville & attend a private school and finally deal with her disorder. The story that unfolds is captivating, endearing and thought-provoking. I also purchased Sumner's first novel, Roll With It, and I look forward to reading that. Keep them coming Jamie! Bravo. :)
