Best water toy
Our dog loves this in the pool. Very tough little thing. Floats well. Doesn't easily come apart - our dog managed because we left him with it for an hour... we learnt our lesson. New replacement only comes out during supervised time ! Lasting a lot longer. Worth the spend.

Price quality is terrible, I expected a much stronger more robust product, it literally broke writhing 30 seconds of play.

As we just recently received the SMALL NEON GREEN/BLUE version of this item, this product review is for the toys ability to float and be seen & fetched easily in the water, not it's durability. We have a 2 yr old 15 lb shih tzu who we are training to swim in our pool. She obviously wants to get in with us while we are swimming but gets nervous when we try to coax her in. The only way we could convince her to take the plunge was by throwing one of her favorite toys (limited to those which floated) in. The problem was as she doggy paddles she would force the toys underwater and then become very frustrated and fatigued quickly as they would often pop back up behind her, out of her field of vision. We tried KONG Air Dog Squeakair Birthday Balls Dog Toy, Medium, Colors Vary (3 Balls) (same size as regular tennis ball) and while they would float as soon as she reached the ball when she would try to bite it, it would just float away because her mouth is too small to get a grip on the ball without the resistance of the edge of the pool- or my hand. They would also stay full of water days later. We tried a slightly smaller kong KONG Squeezz Jels Pig Squeaking Dog Toy, Medium (Colors Vary) which I thought was small enough but had the same problem. We then tried the KONG Squeakair Tennis Ball with Rope Dog Toy, Medium, Yellow but while it worked better because she could capture the rope, she would still force the ball underwater and it took a while to pop back up. The only toy that only slightly worked was our blue Kong Wubba Assorted Colors Puppy but it didn't float very high and it got very dirty when wet (she decided to bury it when she was tired of swimming.) She would still accidentally force the wubba under while swimming. We also tried a rope/ball combo from the dollar store which eventually just sunk. Not so with this toy! Today is day 4 of pool training and she never kicked this chuckit bumper underwater, not even once! It floats very high on top of the water and it seems easy for her to see. She seems to enjoy fetching this toy and we even ended the training while she was still gladly fetching and full of energy, even after fetching many times. As I have read previous reviews we are keeping this as a "water only" toy and while we let her play with/chew it for a few moments after she retrieves it, it is not meant to serve as a chew toy or for non supervised play. So far it seems durable and HIGHLY functional as a floating retrieval tool. Will update review at the end of summer or if she manages to destroy it sooner

After seeing another spaniel with this toy I bought it for my cocker spaniel Bertie who adores the water but needs something to be thrown in for him to fetch. After a few weeks of heavy use it's been a massive success and now bought a second one as a spare. I went for the small size as Bertie is a fairly small spaniel and I think it's ideal for him since he can easily pick it up and carry it, I suspect the medium would be a bit too large for him. The toy has a reasonable amount of weight to it and with the string on the end makes it easy to throw it a good distance. It seems to float well in all conditions and the bright colour makes it easy for Bertie to spot and collect, I'd been concerned the green was a bit dull however it's much brighter in real life. Durability is a concern although so far the toy has been holding up fine despite a lot of heavy use but will update the review if it prematurely starts coming apart. So far though it's just been a fantastic purchase. Normally I need to try and find suitable sticks which isn't possible in some areas or they're scarce, many don't throw well and can be hard for Bertie to spot plus there's always the risk of them being chewed on if the action isn't moving fast enough. I've tried balls instead but he struggles to pick them up in his mouth in the water with nothing to push against and smaller balls are harder to spot.
