Dr. Armstrong's efforts to honor and protect children from exploitation are to be applauded.
If you are a parent of a young child, I can recommend without hesitation that you read this book (and others) by Thomas Armstrong, PhD. If you are 20+ or 30+ year-old and still clinging to that mythical diagnosis that you "have" ADD and can never be drug-free, please read this book.As a former private school educator who watched the whole evolution of misdiagnoses with and medication-prescribing to children who were unique (NOT disordered) and a current drug counselor who is seeing the results of these missteps in the American medical, psychiatric and educational landscapes, The Myth of the ADHD Child helps explain a LOT! In the end we all my have it wrong, but with the current research based evidence the subject of ADHD is not dinasour.
I would say until you read the book in its entire don't judge the book by is cover as my husband did. Once he read the book through the title of the book made much more since. The book is thought provoking, solution oriented, and sensitive to the world of ADHD. My husband and I really enjoy this read.

Great read which explores how to work with normal, healthy, energetic children
Excellent book. Unfortunately most kids are misdiagnosed or over diagnosed just because they find school boring (shocker) and can't sit through it. This book looks at the industry that has been created and the unfortunate victims.

Great find
Great practical suggestions. I suggest it to clients as a neuropsychologist.
