Q: Can this be used to hold broom and mop?

There are only two holes that accommodate larger umbrellas (which I suppose could be used for any long, thin, cylindrical item such as a broom or mop), however, the other two holes are not the full height of the stand to accommodate smaller umbrellas so this might pose a challenge when using it for other things. I hope this helps.

Q: Can this be used outside?

It is made out of a hard plastic, however, depending on where you live and what you mean by outside. If you are leaving out on a covered porch or in your garage, I would say yes, but if you live up north, in the cold, I would not recommend it. I keep it inside by my back door next to a built in bench, and it looks great. It’s not very big and holds 4 umbrellas.

Q: Will it keep the water from umbrella from getting on the floor?

Yes, but the stand is really small.

Q: What is the actual size of the openings? I want it to hold open umbrellas.

The openings hold closed umbrellas. The stand is too small and flimsy to hold an open umbrella unless the bottom is attached to the floor in the middle of the room. I use it to hold my canes when I come in from the outside It is about 4" square and 12" tall. I also put a closed, dry umbrella in it for storage. Put your wet umbrella open in the bathtub until it dries.

Nice clean design
