GETTING UP TO 40HRS PER FULL WIND

Bought one of these as a birth year watch. It's a nice looking piece with a well executed dial and has a high quality finish. The movement is based on an old Swiss Venus chrono designed about 80 years ago, the Chinese bought the design and the machinery in the early 60s and refined it. It looks superb given the super low price but in my view the longevity is suspect.I got mine from a UK seller, wound it up to the specified 30 turns and it ran out of steam less than 24 hours later when they are supposed to have a 40 hour power reserve. The seller sent a replacement watch but the new one wasn't much better, stopping after about 30 hours. The crown stem is also cut a little long so there's a gap between the case and crown. As always with Chinese watches it's a gamble what you get. I am now trying to weigh up which one to keep, the one with the short power reserve and perfect finish or the one with the longer reserve and a gappy crown.Update March 24th:I decided to keep the watch with the low power reserve as I couldn't live with the flaw on the other one. After much research about the power reserve there is little information beyond the standard answer of 30 winds. I then commented on an FB post by Poljot24, a well known German watch seller that specialises in Russian and Chinese chrono's. The owner of the company told me that its generally safe to wind these movements until they physically stop as the main spring is very strong! I was a little apprehensive about this advice having read about weak click springs breaking but I did wind the watch to around 45 turns and have got the power reserve up to about 37 hours. The trick is to wind as normal up to 25 turns then wind slower up to 40/45 turns. This is best done while viewing the movement through the caseback where you can see the ratchet moving. As especificações da versão oficial e desta versão são praticamente as mesmas, incluindo a resistência à 30m de profundidade. O que muda é a caixa em safira (vs acrílico na oficial) e fundo transparente (a caixa original é em aço). A versão oficial conta também com alguma precisão de movimento, garantindo 1 ou 2 segundos de melhoria; mas nada que afete o uso normal do relógio. Eu comprei a versão 38mm e gostei muito. Vem com duas correias, uma nato e uma em couro com fivela para encaixar mais fácil.

This is a nice watch for the money. It did take a while for it to be delivered from this particular seller , 20 days in my case, but worth the wait. It came packaged nicely in a plastic case with “egg crate” foam. Inside was the watch on a green NATO strap, which I changed out to the one in the photo, along with an additional ‘leather’ strap. I got the sapphire, 38mm gooseneck. The mechanical works are Awesome looking! It feels good on the wrist. It’s easy to read with my old eyes. The hands are lined up perfectly with the markers. Some reviews say it’s loud but I haven’t noticed it being any louder than any of my other mechanicals. The stems are crisp and feel solid when pressed. I thought the 18mm strap might feel small but on the wrist, it’s very proportionate to size of the watch face. Very old school in a good way. Buy it. You won’t be disappointed. As for longevity, time will tell.

chronograph stopped working... cannot ask for too much at this price range!

Update on this item (It's only fair to the seller).I have decided to not return this item as I took a little more time to figure things out. Firstly, this is my first chronograph and noticed that that the watch stopped after I had done some physical work. It appears I have been hitting the top chronograph button accidentally. After being more careful with it, it has not stopped and is keeping good time. Secondly, I have never been one to wind my mechanical watches to the end of the spring...I usually stop when I feel the spring tension getting tight. This watch is a stiff winding unit and I might not be winding it enough...I made sure I wound it more than usual so don't be surprised when you wind it for the first few times. I have hope this watch will be what I was hoping for..BUT!!! I will update.

I have worn this watch for @ 9 days. It gained 1 minute in this time. Carefully packaged. I could not be happier!Classic design with modern appointments. I opted for the sapphire crystal instead of acrylic.First wind was 30 winds then 10 winds per day has kept this timepiece running accurately.Time graphed after 7 days of operation showed +- 6 seconds a day.Excellent quality. Beautifully executed.
