Everest Deluxe Small Backpack, Black, One Size

As a homeschooling mom, I needed a small bag for "emergencies" when we leave the house. This bag currently contains a small medic kit, sanitizing wipes, plain wipes, loose change, protein/granola bars, mints, a city map, portable charger & charging cords, rechargeable headlamp, USB flashlight stick, small notebook and pencil, whistle (w/ built-in compass, thermometer, and magnifying glass), multi-tool set, 3oz hand lotion, UNO cards (in its own hard case game carrier- also found on Amazon- and attached with a D-ring on the outside of the backpack), a couple of "Eye Found It" pages with a few crayons, rain bonnet, snack bag clips, rubber bands, and face masks....basically all the things I don't want to and can't carry in my tiny slim crossbody shoulder bag.I don't like to be weighed down with stuff when walking. This bag stays in the car when we go out. I feel good knowing I have these items on hand, if needed. If the entire family goes out of town, I'll just modify the contents so it can accommodate my Bose QuietComfort headphones case (which does fit) and a book. I keep the portable charger in the hanging floating pocket in the back main compartment so I can run a cord from it through the media hole to a phone or other device that needs charging when the vehicle is off. The backpack is small, but that's exactly what I wanted. Overall 5/5.

Lots of pockets , didnt rip, lightweight, durable zippers

Below is my original review, before I received this new one. The actual size is 8" wide x 12" high x about 5.5" deep. I thought maybe I got one from a bad batch. But I called Everest, and theirs measured the same as mine. However, their website, the description here on Amazon, and the tag on the backpack all state 9.5 x 13 x 6. The person I spoke with at Everest couldn't care less. How disappointing.------------------------------------------------I love this backpack!!!! I got one at our county fair and now I'm getting a second one from Amazon. It's small, which is perfect for every day use. But it's very roomy, with lots of pockets and handy storage spaces. I like that there are three separate zipper compartments. I also like that there is no fabric flap covering the zipper, which I just find inconvenient. It's also very lightweight. And very functional.Inside the largest zipper compartment, there is a mesh pocket in the front side, and a smaller pocket in the back side. In the middle zipper compartment, there is a pocket with a mesh zipper pocket and card storage pockets. In the front, smaller zipper compartment, that's where I put my phone, for very easy access.There are mesh pockets on both sides on the outside, for water bottles, and I also put an umbrella in there when needed.The padding on the adjustable straps are very comfortable.I would like something more fashionable, but the fashionable ones are heavy, wrong size, not functional like this one. So I'm just sticking to this since I love it.

I love this backpack so much. It's so little and portable but fits everything I need. The straps fit comfortably on my shoulders. It has a mesh zipper pocket and a padded pocket in the largest compartment, and some smaller pockets and credit card spaces in the middle compartment. My only complaint is that the two mesh pockets on the outside were rather flimsy--they got too ripped up to use after about a month--which was too bad because I was excited about being able to put my keys in one pocket and my iPod in the other. The rest of the backpack seems pretty sturdy and well made, I haven't had any problems after several months of regular use. The actual backpack is 1/2"-1" smaller on each side than the dimensions given online. This wasn't a problem for me. It didn't fit my regular 13" silver Macbook but does fit my 11" Macbook Air.

We ended up returning this bag as it was too small for our needs (backpack for a school aged kid) but if need a good small backpack for traveling, I know where to go! Takeaways:- this is pretty small in height and width but great depth! Could hold an iPad (mini, regular) but not an iPad Pro.- Was not able to fit a pocket folder (designed for 8.5 x 11 pieces of paper).- Liked that there are two big zipper pockets and small zipper pockets. Side pocket for water bottle was small and better suited to skinnier bottles- quality of material and zippers felt good- liked the basic black color - easy to personalize-straps had good padding

Product was to thin .

Perfect size but instead of those slots for credit cards that are unusable, there should be holders for pens in their place. A zippered pocket within the main compartment for wallets - in addition to the large zippered mesh pocket, would increase functionality. Including a zipper that would expand the bag - like in the first one I bought - would make it a better bag.
