Studying for the GRE is overwhelming. It's kind of like being interviewed for your dream job, except all the interview questions are vocabulary words no one knows or junior high math problems they swore you'd never have to remember after ninth grade. Yum.So thank goodness for this book. I started off trying to watch YouTube videos and learn from GRE apps, but the material was so disconnected and hard to understand. No math problem seemed related to any other math problem, and all the verbal practice was stacks of vocabulary flashcards ... ugh. It was brutal and boring and I made no progress. When I looked into signing up for a course, most of them had at least six textbooks and seemed like they'd take an eternity to get anywhere.Erfun's book is great. He covers everything on the test, he builds up your skills so that each lesson develops one that came before, and he teaches you to think creatively and conceptually so that you have more than one way to tackle every problem. He's great at breaking everything down, and after a while he shows you that the problems are much more repetitive than you'd think. Before his book I thought the GRE was like a bar exam where I needed to know 5000 different obscure things, but after reading his book I realized the GRE only needs you to know 20 or 30 things, you just have to know them really well. If you put in the time to really read the chapters, he will get you there - you do not need any other prep material, you can jump straight to the practice tests.

I highly recommend this book, especially to test-takers like myself, who struggle with quant. The book addresses all the quant topics, and for each quant topic, the book first lays out the core foundational concepts you'll need to understand, and then moves into specific strategies you can implement for each question type such as the quantitative comparison, numeric entry, multiple choice - single answer or multiple answers. I really appreciate how the book's written, it's very concise and easy to understand - it's not pages and pages of overwhelming concepts and explanations; instead, the book pinpoints and focuses only on the core concepts you'll need so you're not wasting time reading through irrelevant information. The book does a great job of preparing you for the basic question types ETS can throw at you regarding specific quant topics, but the book takes it a step further by providing you with strategies to solve harder, more complicated question types. Personally, I worked through this book first, and then moved onto Manhattan Prep's 5lb book and the ETS Quant and ETS OG - I'd recommend this path to others who struggle with quant. This book arms you with strong foundations and strategies so that when you're working through the ETS materials, you can really implement what you learned - it makes a huge difference. I think this book will be a game-changer for those who are swimming in the 150s trying to break into the 160s. I wish more test prep books were written like this - I highly, HIGHLY recommend this book!

This book is amazing. It really works! I did groups of several pages a night until I finished the entire book. My score jumped by 20 points. I was blown away. I didn’t think I could do it without an expensive course but this book was really exceptional for me. Highly recommend!
