Mad Men: The Complete Collection [DVD + Digital]

Glad I bought the physical copies. Blu rays are a little hard to remove out the case, just don’t force them. Now I can watch anytime.

What a beautiful package! We love it. The discs are difficult to extract but I suppose after in and out a few times a groove will be worn in the sides of the sleeves of the pages of the book of discs. This pkg came with delightful extras: 4 cork coasters and two lowball glasses! When I saw the glasses I ran to the kitchen for ice cubes. I said to my wife: "Honey, listen...and I dropped the ice cubes into the glass and the sound was instantly recognizable from the sound in Roger Sterling's office hahaha! Best purchase ever, I highly recommend.

I recently purchased the Mad Men: The Complete Collection on Blu-ray and I have to say, it was worth every penny. As a longtime fan of the show, I was ecstatic to have all seven seasons in one comprehensive set.The first thing that impressed me about this collection was the packaging. Just got my DVDs and have not watched any yet. I am posting because I wanted to chime in on how VERY difficult it is to get the discs out of their sleeves. Almost impossible, with a strong likelihood of damaging the DVDs. I have now removed all the discs from the sleeves and placed into generic CD envelopes, and would like to share my method with you. The sleeves are comprised of a front & back made of about 1/32" thick cardboard joined at each edge and bottom with a thicker (1/16") piece of cardboard about 1" wide glued to the front and back. So it is like a sandwich with a space inside to hold the DVD and open at the top to (in theory if not in practice) extract the DVD. Here is what I did: Use this at your own risk!: The trick is to pull the front off the "sandwich" by working from the inner edge of the thick cardboard to expose the inside space, which will now give up the DVD with ease. Like opening a clam or pistachio nut. This is a destructive process, but IMO much safer for the DVD than trying to grasp it and extract by sliding directly out of the sleeve. I then placed the now-liberated discs in envelopes labeled with season, disc and episodes and will store somewhere safe until I begin to watch.

Pretty glasses and high quality, cool packaging, but it's really difficult to get the discs out of their very narrow and tight slots. Ended up using cotton gloved to yank them out. Discourages use; we really only ended up watching the digital because the DVDs are *so* annoying to get out and use.

It's an excellent show - you know it - and that is why you are contemplating buying this Blu-Ray DVD box set. I bought it - and I am extremely happy I did - the quality of the package design is also excellent.It's true - at first the DVDs appear to be difficult to remove - but after you succeed with the first two - you will get the hang of it - and will be able to pop them right out - without having to tear anything - it is actually a clever design.You will eventually develop a technique - I learned using my thumb and index finger: my right thumb touches the top of the DVD and my right index finger is bent and touching the bottom of the disc - then pull and the disc pops right out - wipe the DVD with a clean cloth - and you're good to go.Unlike the show - not a lot of drama involved.
