could have been better
jodie foster a natural talent, with dennis hopper milo an unlikely love develops but stranger stuff happens in real life...remember hopper was on a tide of popularity after starring in and co writing easy rider a film that catapulted him to fame and changed hollywood's film direction. and he had been n a number of other major epics like cool hand luke ect..so it doesn't surprise me a host of stars acted in his film as some were later ..like foster who became a major acting female lead....foster never hated hopper during the making of the film because he had to chastise her after a scene but she respected him..but its the only time youll ever get to see foster naked in a film like the shower scene (which she was unhappy with) but overall i think its not too bad considering the shite ive watched coming out on film...not a classic but a good effort for 4 million quid??

An O.K early Jodie Foster film!!
This is a pretty average film really about a serial killer who falls in love with one of his potential victims, the leads are pretty good but overall the film is quite slow, it will really only appeal to die hard Jodie Foster fans!!

Vacuous oddity
Why? I just don't get it at all. I watched it right through more out of fascination and disbelief that anything so absurd was possible to produce at all, let alone by a cast of better ilk. I would not say avoid it. As an example of how not to act it is surely one of the finest movies ever thrown up, and one to chalk up to experience, if only as a reminder that you, too, can sink that low in taste in support of Amazon's cultural suicide.

bang bang your not dead!!
one of hopper's best films of his liking to do things diffrently.knowing his way of portraying villians,it was surprising to see him as a killer with a heart.jodie as always sizzling sex appeal comes to the forefront.

It's dire - but it shouldn't be.
Hopper directed and starred in this movie - but disowned it before release. That gives you a clue. I believe this is the director's cut, which he decided was better - but better than what? It stars an alphabet soup of well-known actors and has a storyline which should have clicked for the time (1990 - WHY does Amazon insist on putting 2021 on old movies???). The only shining thing in it is Jodie Foster. Apparently she and Hopper hated each other from Day One. The original title was Catch Fire., but they probably renamed it so someone might watch this version. More like damp squib. The whole thing was doomed.

Dreadful
There's a reason why Hopper disowned this film and why it was such a huge flop. What were they thinking? What was Jodie Foster thinking? Stopped it a third of the way through as just couldn't bear the ridiculous script any longer, or the gratuitous soft porn footage of Foster, or the terrible direction. Bury the film. It doesn't deserve to see the light of day. I expected much greater things from Hopper and Foster and I think they had awful material to work with.
