Petmate Barnhome III Pet Shelter, Made in USA

This is my 3rd Barn house for the bevy of feral cats. It's sturdy. Well made. Easy to put together. And best of all keeps the ferals dry and protected from the freezing winter weather.And cooler in the very hot Summers. Will be taping Reflexit inside to insulate it. Will close off one of the openings for more warmth and cold Winter protection but may remove it in the Summer. Adding in lots of straw. The cats seem to love it. It will likely be kept under cover on the patio for further wind and weather protection. I highly recommend the Petmate Barn Home 111, even for cats!This certainly looks sturdy enough and well made BUT there were screw holes on the top and bottom but NO FASTENING HARDWARE was included in the packaging!!! I would love to use this for my colony of feral cats. I'd appreciate some fasteners to join the top and bottom together. Any help from the manufacturer or amazon would be helpful. Then I could update this to 4 or 5 stars....5 stars if the service is speedy since our weather is very windy, rainy and close to freezing temperatures. Thank you.UPDATE -When I received this Barnhome 3 and set this up...and reading the many excellent and very helpful comments - that this just snapped together. No fasteners needed but it really could have used some. It did not snap together that well. I may just add some of my own fasteners in the future. So when I set this all up for the feral cats to be able to use for the heavy rain and wind due to come that night, I covered the bottom inside with 2 layers of cardboard, then a layer of straw, next covered it with cut up blankets and the warming pad. Sprinkled some tasty treats for encouragement.I tried to snap it shut as best as possible then set the Barnhome on top of a bale of straw to get it up off the ground. The large opening just seemed too close to the ground with the soon coming wind and heavy rain.I did reverse the top as was suggested by another reviewer so there was an opening at each end. I wedged this set up between two large barrels and covered it all with a tarp, and then a large board held down with some large rocks. So there was some bit of protection from the elements. It all covered the top of the Barnhome and projected out over the front, rear and sides to cover the rear vent and the front opening. In other words the Barnhome was hemmed in so it couldn't fly off the straw bale or lose its top! Or let the rain in at either end!The rain and wind that lasted all during the night was very heavy at times. In the morning I checked to see how it held up. And the kitties too! It did very well and was simply a little damp from the dampness in the air and kitties feet... not soaking wet from the nights rain. The kitties seemed none the worse for wear after they spent the day inspecting the new set-up. Tasty cat treats placed inside the Barnhome, and the warming pad and blankets with their own smell from their previous home placed inside helped. Time will tell how it all eventually works out. Spring will be here soon and hoping to get rid of most of the set-up of board and barrels.All-in-all I am very glad I picked this shelter for them. The price was right for my tight budget, the construction is excellent, and one can get very creative with weather protection.

Perfect doggy house for our Jack Russell Terrier. Washable, durable and perfectly sized. We keep this under a covered patio, so she's not exposed to the elements. She seems quite comfy in our year round warm climate, with the ventilation provided.

Cats are loving the dog house. Mommy likes it too. The house was easy to order and the delivery was excellent. Putting it together was really simple: snap,snap. The cats and I are very happy about their indoor home to play and sleep in. When my cat Put Put was feeling ill he slept in the house until he began to feel better. I purchased the house for my outdoor cat Bo who refuses to come into the house. Now that we are having freezing temperatures in TN; I grabbed Bo and now he is an indoor cat until spring. He loves his indoor house and occasionally will share it with the other cats. This is an excellent product and nicely designed.

Bought one of these at a pet store for twice the price, love the idea of switching the roof around and putting on backwards. Also, can use a dremmel to cut a little cat door out the back and put a little flap over it to keep out the rain. Excellent price and good quality item.

I have 5 little indoor dogs, 3 under 8 pounds. One sleeps on the bed with us regardless of the time of the year. Two sleep in dog houses in the bedroom with electric crate pads in the fall and winter. Two sleep "wherever". I love a cool bedroom but I was afraid if I kept it real cool, the two "wherevers" might be cold.I ordered a "up to 15lbs" house and FedEx messed up the delivery. Amazon refunded my money with no problem. Since I read that there was a problem with that size house fitting together properly and I was reordering anyhow, I opted to get the next largest size, 15-25lbs instead and it fit together perfectly.It is rather large for the size of the dogs that will be using it (actually a lot large) but it wasn't much more expensive. The smaller size would have worked as well but I know if the ill fitting top frightened my dogs they would NEVER go back in again. Sturdy, well made and heavy, this is a great deal for the price. I have another of the larger size coming tomorrow for my (don't laugh) 6 1/2 lb. Yorkie! He is a clown and will enjoy having a big house to mess up. The Chihuahua who weighs a little more (chubby little girl) will just have to deal with it! I give this house 5 stars. I find no fault with it at all.

This is the perfect house for my dad's outside cat -- we've been searching since early Fall, knowing that Connecticut winters are snowy, cold and wet. We went to ALL the retail stores and kept coming up empty handed. This "Barn Home" is good looking and fits perfectly on the back porch. I bought the self warming crate pad as well, and even though it took almost two months for the cat to get used to her new shelter, it was worth the wait. She now stays in her bed through the night and even on cold days. We're ALL very happy!

The first night left outside, it rained and the inside was filled with water on the bottom of the dog house. Great size though and easy to put together. Came partially damaged with a piece of the roof chipped on one of the corners.
