Do not store water in these, the liner is water soluble. So not only will it contaminate the water, it destroys the inner liner that is protecting it from rusting.

It will not hurt the can to use it for gas. The EPA likes to designate colors to the fuel used. Yellow for Diesel, Red for gas, Blue for Kerosene. But the only difference is the color.

Jerry can? In black? Don’t know. Yellow is for diesel and red is typically for Petrol gasoline. Blue? -not a normal color designation for fuels. If it exists, blue is purely for aesthetic pleasure. Blue means nothing. Green is military, Red is Gas, Yellow is universal for diesel.
