UK pressing of the 2008 album from the Belgian melodic Gore/Grind Metal masochists feature one bonus track. Shoving a dirtied, well-placed syringe straight through the heart of expectation, Aborted further remove themselves from the Carcass homage of old on their sixth release. While most bands are content releasing the same record every other year, this international collective prefers to strike a rare balance between maturity and experimentation, honoring a legacy of brutal Death Metal and Grindcore while progressing toward something slightly less classifiable. It is precisely that ambition that has made them a household name in Extreme Metal. Century Media.

I was not disappointed with this album. Aborted blows me away every time. I am looking forward to the Necrotic Manifesto.

A band going in the right direction with this album.
This album is a very vibrant mix of a few metal genre's including gore, grind, melodic death, and thrash. It came as a welcome surprise for me because I had always known about Aborted but was never interested as they seemed like yet another splatter metal band, which I do not prefer. The only band I personally listen to that can be considered comparable to Aborted on this album is Avulsed, who has always tried to mix melody and catchiness with the gore. This album has outstanding guitar work, especially when it comes to the leads which shimmer in their melodic brilliance in many, many songs on this cd. The drummer has always been topnotch. He doesn't blast for no apparent reason at all or give you nothing but a flam/roll-fest that adds absolutelly nothing to the musical direction(unfortunatelly too many "extreme" drummers have no sense of taste when it comes to what goes where in a composition). He is quite skilled and shines on this album. The vocalists are outstanding for the genre as well and there is some great shadowplay between the different styles used during any given song. The album itself is strong throughout. I found myself loving every minute of it from start to finish. There are no fillers. The only weak point is perhaps the lyrics, but eh, who really cares. No one listens to underground music for the lyrics in general, its about the music. All in all I hope that Aborted keeps it up with their next release and brings it to the next level. If they do, they deserve to be ranked amongst some of todays best metal acts. Recommended to fans of Gore Metal, Thrash, and Melodic Death. It can easily please anyone into any of these genre's.

strike the pose...
Aborted is like a fine wine... get better with age. this album is brutal and straight to the point. the intro is great and preps u for the rest to come. Sven barks like a madman, his performance on this cd really comes across to me the way he is live if you've seen them. Nice soundbite on "murmur" by none other than charles manson, and is a stand out track for me. They really capitalize on the duel melodies of the guitarist, putting just the right touch of melody in the songs. Then the reason i got the import instead of us version... they cover "slaughtered" by the almighty PANTERA! and man it is sick! Not going to even explain, listen for youself.. its just another great release from 1 of the best extreme metal bands out there. *Best songs*- 135/ Murmur/ enterrment of an idol/ pestiferous subterfuge

Not for original Aborted fans
If you like anything pre-Goremageddon from Aborted then you probably will not enjoy this. The construction of the riffs are great but it just doesn't have that amazing flow and catchy feel of Goremageddon.

Reifes Werk!
