As an adult gamer, I tire fast of these games. But I have young kids who really like them. I was thinking I would skip Sweet Shop because they hadn't been as interested in Gardening Mama which is the last one we got. But since the kids really like sweets, I decided to get this one. I'm really glad we got it. I think this is their favorite Cooking Mama. I don't know that it's better than 5, but they really like making the sweets! One of the big problem with Cooking Mama games is that there are always a lot of recipes that don't interest kids. I think Cooking Mama 5 had more recipes they liked than the previous games, but it still had a few weird ones like Cabbage Roll Tomato Soup and Tofu. That's why Sweet Shop is so brilliant. What kid doesn't like sweets! I don't think there's a single recipe my kids dislike! There are a few modes beyond just doing recipes. You can open a store and sell to customers to make money to unlock costumes for Mama and decorations. There is a the World Challenge which has extra mini-games that can even be played in multiplayer. The multi-player is 2-4 players and you only need one game cartridge to play (but each additional player needs a 3DS). I think the extra stuff in Cooking Mama 5 were a little better, but I think there's better progression in getting stuff from doing extras and the main recipes. It may be easier to do perfect in this game than some of the previous ones. Of course, my kids could just be better than they used to be too. I think it helps my youngest to want to play more when she does well, so I don't think easy is a bad thing in this type of game. The down side is that it's a pretty shallow game and that it seems expensive when you compare it to so many cheap games on phones/tablets. My kids like both 3DS and tablet games and I think there still is a place for 3DS games. I do remember buying many of the Cooking Mama games for twenty bucks and I probably wouldn't have bought this without the Prime discount. In the end, my kids love it. They're asking to make some of the sweets that they're making in the game. I'm not sure we're ready to step up from making cookies, but I think we might watch some British Baking Show after this! :)

Cooking Mama has always been a series I loved, but I didn't know about Sweet Shop until it was recommended to me on Amazon. I am glad I ordered it. Sweet Shop takes the classic cooking minigame style of Cooking Mama, and adds a layer to the fun by introducing a shop to sell your goodies. A lot of the cooking gameplay is similar to Cooking Mama 4: Kitchen Magic, but improves upon the functionality of the minigames. You get to customize absolutely everything. The kitchen, your cooking equipment, the shop, and even Mama's clothing are all things that you get to change to better suit your aesthetic preferences.Even some of the food lets you decorate it to suit your tastes. Through gameplay, you can even earn new options for customization. After you made your sweets, you can even take pictures of the sweets and decorate the pictures with frames and stickers. These pictures can be shared to social media via the Nintendo 3DS Image Share function. Overall, Cooking Mama: Sweet Shop is another great addition to the Mama series. It's a fun and cute game any Mama fan would enjoy. The only downside is that you may crave sweets after playing it.
