My husband and I absolutely love this set. We routinely draw encouraging chalk notes/pictures for each other on the front porch floor (it's concrete), and this set is just what we were hoping for to replace our old, used-up, basic set. The colors are beautifully vibrant, edgy, and unique - and I love the glitter ones (the glitter really shows!). Strong/rich (pigment-wise) colors. And I love the squared shape of the pieces! Some people have complained about chalk arriving broken... obviously, this is to be expected with chalk. Chalk is not shock-proof. It's chalk. You're going to have a few broken ones after the shipping process. It's not a big deal and there's no way on Earth to avoid some broken ones - it's only luck if you don't have any broken. In fact, those folks who are complaining might should look on the positive side: When a chalk is broken (especially with this set of chalk where the pieces are square so as not to roll away), you now have a flat top on the chalk and that really gives you four top corners to write/draw with. That's kind of a bonus, in my opinion. Of course, if the majority of your chalk arrives broken, I can understand why that would return them (I would, too). But that isn't the product's (or Crayola's) fault. It's just the luck of the draw with how rough the shipping process was - and the shipping process goes through so many steps that you can't blame any person or any step in particular. I actually *appreciate* Crayola for *not* using padding or extra packaging to shock-proof/protect the chalk. Padding and packaging are wasteful and terrible for the environment, so I would NOT want Crayola to start adding additional padding/shock-proofing in order to protect the chalk just to please the complaining buyers. Chalk is fragile - everyone knows it. Look on the bright side if you receive some broken chalk. I only wanted to say the above because I wish buyers wouldn't give this product lower stars just because chalk was received broken. This really is a GREAT product and I hope Crayola keeps making it so others can enjoy it. I am very happy and grateful to have this wonderful set - it is a joy to use. Thank you so much, Crayola. It's really hard to find sidewalk chalk this time of year in stores, and looking online, it's obvious that chalk prices are even inflated. But with this set, you get 48 thick, sturdy pieces, all a different color, in a big sturdy box with a handle! I like to leave messages for my boyfriend on the walkway, and this chalk is perfect! It hardly left any chalk on my hands, it was easy to write and draw with, too. They are shaped like big crayons. It seemed to take at least a couple weeks to get here, but was worth the wait for the low price. The only way they'd be better is if they had peelable paper around them like crayons do, but these are still good for toddlers cause they don't break easily and don't leave excess chalk dust like cheaper brands do. Go with Crayola!

Superb quality chalks and sturdy enough to write on sidewalks. Perfect size for 3 yo and 7 yo hands. A huge number of colours in this pack that made them our return choice as great value and better quality than most sidewalk chalks.
