Yes, used it on gray MANY times. Left on 1.5 to 2 HOURS because anything less didn't cover the gray. It doesn't last long with our chemical composition, a couple weeks, if that. FYI: The LIGHT BROWN color by the same company caused our gray to turn GREEN. To fix that, used this color (Chocolate).

It will...I leave on for up to 4 hours under the plastic cap to thoroughly cover the gray and to condition at the same time.

Does it have a long shelf life, if I purchase now for later use?

Not sure what the shelf life is. Have always used the product within a 2 week period.

Has anyone ever used it on dry hair as opposed to freshly washed hair?
