fast speeds in small packages
Speeds can depend on your setup, this lists it as reaching about 980 read speeds and I believe it.The 800 speed is my read speed, took just a few seconds to transfer a 10gb file. The 569 figure is me writing to the drive from my NVME on my desktop.Write seems to be a bit lower (maybe it's the implementation on my specific motherboard, (aorus pro wifi x570)) but overall I love the form factor and style for this type of device. It's a lot bigger than a flash drive would be but gives you 500 gb's of very fast read/write which makes it perfect for you depending on your needs.I shoot a lot of video and my main use case for this drive is moving media from one location to another location, this device does it very quickly, I haven't noticed any kind of crazy thermals, but then again I do not keep it under constant load.If you have a need to move big files off one place on to another, this little guy puts in the work. (Moving a 10GB video from a western digital passport tends to give me about 88 megs read and write, this is almost 10x the speed (read) 5-6x write, which literally saves me that much time each time.)I have a few 1TB ssd's that I've been using but haven't had any in this form factor before but I have been wanting to try one out. Overall I like it, I think 500GB is going to be rather small and would recommend going with the 1-2tb options, but for something quick and easy if this is all you can get you will not be disappointed.Works very well for my needs and I haven't run into any issues. The "leather" sleeve is a nice touch, I wish they had a spot for the cables to keep them together, I keep them wrapped up as shown and in an easy to reach spot in my day bag to get it in and out as needed. I have likely transferred 20 TB to and from the drive thus far with no issue, the read is always quicker than the write, and I try to not fill it up. I'm using it mainly to offload storage, it's also nice to use if you're doing any installs as software and games install rapidly off this device. (used this as my portable windows install once and it worked great)The device does get warm, but to be fair I'm mainly plugging it in like I would a thumb drive and transferring a ton of data to it, then quickly unmounting the drive and later on attaching it to a computer to offload, maybe do some more writes and some deletes, and repeat.I've never heard of this brand, but I'm impressed with the setup. I do look forward to picking up a couple 2tb drives from them later in this form factor, it's crazy the amount of data you can safely store on these and toss in a bag and keep them safe (no moving parts). This is the future and the future is now, I highly recommend portable nvme ssds, this brand seems solid, I like the styling, this drive is being properly abused and has stood the test of time, curious how it holds up after a few more months of heavy use. I would love to offload my archival files onto this type of form factor for easy hold and safe use, we shall see how these hold up.-- one main goal I have is to scoop a couple more of these 2tbs as they would be forever useful for my gaming setup at home as well, can easily download and transfer games from steam to save on redownloading games and quickly adding them back to and from my internal ssds. The drive is compatible with PS4 but would require you to use the A to C connection which will also limit the speed of the device.Using the USB A to C and the basic USB 3 port my read speeds go to about 360, write speeds are around 318-320, easily doubling a USB 3.0 WD elements drive, meaning it should prove as an awesome option for the older xbox 1 and ps4. However I haven't tested seeing how this holds up to that kind of use yet to know if it would be a solid option, but I do intend to try at my earliest opportunity.

Speeds as advertised even on a USB-C 3.1 Gen 2 port (instead of USB 3.2)
This drive appears to be hitting its maximum advertised speeds even with USB-C 3.1 Gen 2 in lieu of USB 3.2. It automatically used UASP mode in Windows 10 when I plugged it in (a requirement for maximum speed). I verified the speeds in CrystalDiskMark and the UASP mode in CrystalDiskInfo. My motherboard is an MSI MPG Z390 Gaming PRO Carbon AC LGA1151 .I attached the speed test results to this review. Sequentially, I averaged around 1065 MB/s read and 966 MB/s write speeds. Random was, of course, quite a bit slower: 264 MB/s read and 270 MB/s write. For an external USB drive, this is quite fast compared to my other external drives. The drive is a great size and comes with a small case for protection. Short USB-C and USB-A cables are included. The drive is sleek looking and 1 TB (931 GB usable) is fantastic for a USB drive. If I ever have any issues with this drive, I will report back. In the meantime, it is working fine. Don't forget to properly "eject" the drive in Windows before disconnecting it from your computer or you run the risk of corruption, and always have backups of any data you have on this drive to be safe. 5 stars for now! Faster than before.
It can now be started in 15 to 20 seconds, compared to 2-3 minutes before. Everything can start faster, the SSD gives the impression that for a faster computer I used clones, cloned each drive, and used an external hard drive box to quickly swap the drives, just in case.

Great mobile storage
This seems to be an nvme drive in a portable enclosure. I think I like it better than the 2.5 inch form factor drives in mobile applications. The usb interface probably throttles anti of the speed advantages of nvme; but it is plenty fast enough for my purposes - I put all my daughters favorite movies on it for hr to watch on road trips. Works great!
