Shadow Warriors: Inside the Special Forces

Great book if you like anything history and military. Gives detail deep in enemy territory and you feel part of the team. Hard to put down. Definitely worth reading. A slight knowledge of General Stiner because of my wife’s friendship to his daughter in college and still long after that. Anyway an awesome read.

If you have nothing better to do on a Sunday afternoon in the winter when snowed in . . . then perhaps this book is for you.I was looking forward to great insights on all of the Special Forces - across branches of service. I see our special forces as the most mobile, tactical answer to terrorism and was hoping to glean a better perspective of who/what/how. This is not that book.The first few chapters take you back several decades, good start. Set up the creation of special forces groups. Talk about how they engaged in WWII. Fine. Then it becomes a play-by-play of various battles in the 70s,80s,90s without much appreciation for our global US military context. As though events around the world are distinct and our responses can be siloed. It was literally hour by hour in some cases. But, here's the rub, without actually giving away information. Disappointing. It was like watching a reality tv show, some drama, not much substance.As another reviewer states, this one is a sanitized memoir.Not sure Clancy even had a hand in the writing.I've noticed a similar trend among all Clancy's co-authored offerings. Stick to Clancy written and Clancy written with (whomever) researching. This was coke zero.

I liked the book very much. I've read a number of Clancy's collaborations with military men and they are all very good, detailed looks into historic events. The one problem that I have with this book is the spelling. It's absolutely atrocious. There is almost an error on every page and, many times, more than one. The reader actually has to interpret some of the words. It doesn't make for an enjoyable reading experience. If Mr. Clancy gets to read this... then fire your proofreader. They are doing your work a disservice.

Terrific insight into the origins of our special operations elements and many of their actions over the years. General Stiner is one of our Nations' brilliant hero's. I know, I had the honor of working for him in the 82nd Airborne DivisionFernand Thomassy

First hand account of chronologies of events in some of the major wars in which US Special Forces were involved. I was particularly interested in Stiner's experience in the Lebanese War during the 1980s, and I found his account to be objective without out being overly soapy with patriotism, very professional and detached, and it provided me with a behind-the-scene insight into the events of that decade in the Lebanese turmoil. Clearly written, a pleasure to read.

Goes through the history of the special forces in the US army, from the personal point of view of the coauthor, giving some details of the operations and situations where he was involved

Every year our Special Forces chapter goes to Lake Catherine State Park in Hot Springs Arkansas for family get together and have a cook out. We also have an auction to help off set the expenses for the weekend outing. I bought the book for an auction gift and it was a hugh success in being able to make some money for the chapter.

Mr. Clancy Gives you great insight into the drug trade with his usual incredible research when writing a book.
