Do an inspection when you first open it
Got this for a great price off Amazon but third times a charm - I bought the first one and the edge of the block was chipped, and then the replacement one had a piece of glue missing…and now, voila, it’s perfect. I looked at some other photos and people are complaining about cracking or bad quality but you do have to oil it once a week for the first 4 weeks and then once a month afterwards. Take care of it and it will last!

Beautiful and utterly fantastic board!.
I waited to review until I worked with this board for at least a month. I used the recommended oiling which was once a day for a week, then once a week and now will be oiling every month from now on. It is super easy to maintain and looks spectacular in my kitchen. The thickness is perfect and not too heavy to lug around. My knives don't require as much sharpening anymore and I couldn't be happier. Very happy with my purchase.

Not an authentic board
Purchased the factory sale board. The item has multiple cracks and appears to be in used condition. No Boos branding and handles are different than posting. This is not an authentic board.

Second board as first cracked
Hubby loved his new board- but within 2 weeks the edge began to split at a seem. For the money, we expected better. Our board was replaced- hassle free - thank you Amazon. The second one has a minor imperfection but we can live with!

Disappointed when it arrived cracked
Update - did NOT buy another Boos board . I found another source for far better, made in USA cutting boards that blow Boos boards away. Google “The Boardsmith”.Original review:I’ve always wanted a genuine Boos cutting board and I was really psyched to finally obtain one of their top end walnut cutting boards.I watched all the Boos website videos about their production process, the American heritage of the USA sourced black walnut, the legacy craftspeople who have been at Boos for decades and their vaunted product quality that arises from their long and storied history. It also felt good to do my part to support dedicated USA tradespeople and our economy with an all American transaction. The board arrived and it was not well packed. When I unboxed the board, it had a large crack right along a glue line (see photo). Don’t know if the poor packing contributed to the split but it didn’t help.I was so totally bummed. I repacked the board and followed the amazing Amazon refund procedure and returned the damaged item for a refund. Thank you Amazon for making the return easy! But I didn’t want a great return process, I wanted a legacy cutting board that could be passed down in the family for generations. I had even ordered the genuine Boos board oil and wax to make sure the board would last.Is this sort of issue a common occurrence? Is this shoddy craftsmanship or just the oddball defect - a “Friday afternoon” product so to speak? Will I buy another Boos board? I don’t know the answer right now on any of those questions. If I do buy another Boos board, it will probably be locally where I can see the actual cutting board in person and make certain is absolutely perfect. But even a perfect looking board can still harbor hidden defects and crack as time passes.I hope the folks from Boos read this review and understand when a customer drops this sort of money on one of their products, it comes with a high level of customer expectation. A large crack in a brand new board is NOT part of that expectation.I’m truly sorry for the bad news and it’s not my intention to dissuade anyone from purchasing Boos products but expect the unexpected - it happens. Hope this helps!
