This is a good bang for your buck. Not a great bang for your buck. I’ve used Yi for 3 years now. The monthly service( although not necessary - I used free service for over a year) is affordable and fairly reliable/ however it seems every time I want to go back and view something important ( my child’s first steps) somehow the system “glitched”. I contact customer service, of course there’s nothing they can do. I have a stranger in my front and backyard with a weapon visible / but I can’t see anything but a blurry blob for his face in every single frame. Police department can do nothing with the images other than roll their eyes. I click live view to see if my babies are sleeping in their cribs soundly, well I can’t even see the babies in their cribs much less tell if they’re breathing or not. I suppose on 1080 being able to see chest rise and fall is too large an expectation, I don’t know. Most other times the cameras are fine for MINOR, LIGHT, BRIEF surveillance. Please consider something on a much higher level if you need to really micromanage a business for theft, or have any security issues at home or business, You will be disappointed. If you’re using these just for light surveillance at home / of your entrances , main common areas, tool or equipment storage or to watch your animals, you’ll most likely be pleased. The cameras last forever. They are easy to set up and maintain. The free service is fine, we only upgraded because we have 6 or so cameras and I like live view of multiple cameras at all times plus recorded cloud and SD memory. It’s worth the 9.99 monthly charge IF AND WHEN it happens to capture the images or videos I’m searching for. It glitches out and takes a while to view often, but as stated I’m not protecting a multimillion dollar museum of art, I use them for home security- in a safe secure area with more shotguns, rifles and rednecks than any other area of the US and I believe the cameras are just fine for that. If I lived in a high crime area I would consider another camera/service but for what we need they’re pretty ok. They mount easily. The motion detection is good. They run on 110 plug- so if power or WiFi is down, so are they, and we must hide cords in two rooms that we have them mounted on ceilings. You must purchase SIM card for cameras to function properly. You can share live feed or video via text or social media and can share camera view by allowing access and giving login to other family members/business partners through the YI account. You will be able to see if anyone has logged in or viewed your account. It offers additional password protection for uncommon areas such as bedrooms. That’s a nice feature. Over all good product. Yes I would purchase again. I’ve purchased several over the past few years and bought my in laws a system for their residence out of state. If another company were to offer a better product and better quality viewing for a comparable or even a bit higher price, I would change over in a heartbeat. So there’s my honest review. I own 11 Yi cameras at home without their cloud service. This is the second time that happens in the past 4-5 years. With the latest firmware (March 2025), the SD card recording can no longer playback the recording. Every time you move the time bar to check earlier recording the video will jump back to LIVE. I am sure about that because all my 11 cameras (various Yi models) behave the same now. They probably want some revenue from their cloud service.Note: I also reformat all my SD cards thinking that the SD card may be corrupted. Nope. All cameras are the same.Update: The SD cards are now working.

I was a big fan before -- I've purchased 5 or 6 Yi cameras, a few this exact style and also some of the smaller ones that don't rotate, and other than one brick giving out, these cameras have been great for the price. I have them all over the house to check in on pets. In the past few years however, the app has gotten very very aggravating.First it was their own ads trying to sell their cloud service -- these would pop up every time you opened the app and delay you getting to the camera view. Now they've gone full nightmare mode with ads for games that take varying amounts of clicking the dreaded tiny x to get you to your camera views. I'm not trying to get bonus tokens or extra plays! I want to know what that noise was in the other room, now. Not in 20-30 seconds after I futz around with stupid ads. It's a ridiculous idea to have ads on a "security" camera app and it transforms these very decent cameras into something you have to fight with just to see what's going on.There's no recourse for the user, you can delete the app but the app is the only way to utilize the cameras. They've been doing this for months and it doesn't appear they are going to do anything about it, probably because they took the money for the ads already. It's a shameful money grab and I do not recommend buying these cameras at all now because your user experience is going to be frustrating crap. This would otherwise be a 4 or 5 star review, but when you have the word security in the description but make people wait to see what the camera is capturing, you've ruined your own product's effectiveness.

We use this small, movable camera to keep track of our new kitten to see how he gets along with our older cat when we’re not home. It’s small, easy to operate and gives a great picture. Perfect for our needs.

Good camera

Overall, I was very pleased with this purchase. We wanted to be able to keep an eye on our canine companions when at work or away for long periods of time. The cameras worked fine for over two years, until about 6 weeks ago. When I opened the app I had to sign into my account, which I never had to do before, and then I had to reinstall the cameras. Not too big of a deal, just annoying. But when it came to sharing the cameras with my husband, the process didn’t work! Tried multiple times, nothing. Customer support?? What a joke. Tried and tried, but never was able to talk to a real person. So I ordered new cameras, different brand, same style, about the same price. Wow!! The picture quality with the new cameras is outstanding, set up a breeze, and sharing cameras took less than a minute. Needless to say, the YI cameras are back in their boxes in the storage room. They served their purpose for two years. Will not miss the constant adds to buy cloud service(I just used sd cards), every time opening the app I had to navigate through adds before I could see the cameras, and then sometimes the cameras didn’t even load or would take a really long time to load.Now I have an app that’s super easy to use and cameras with outstanding picture quality and also great little speakers with great clarity.After a bad experience I will not be purchasing another YI product.
