If you invest in this book is a gift that will keep on giving. It provides exactly what the title says: a toolbox for therapists. So it has resources I can use with my clients here in the UK. But it also offers self-care practices that I can use for myself, or share with family, friends and my wider work and faith networks. The author impressively introduces Polyvagal theory in ways that can be readily understood by anyone interested in how trauma affects the human mind and body. The author, Joanne Spence, comes across as an experienced Yoga teacher who has navigated trauma personally and tried and tested everyday practices for trauma recovery. I have already bought a copy to give away to a Yoga teacher colleague and my own copy is currently on loan to a friend. You are going to want to buy one and gift one. You are going to want to read it, re-read it and return to it over and over again.
